Looks like when a pet is dead and a ranger is down the ranger is immune to projectiles during lick wounds since they hit the pet and the pet is invincible.
Isn’t the pet supposed to be interruptable?
Also… when i keep rolling over a downed ranger with DD thief, spamming 3rd skill, and maintaining 25 bleeding…. the ranger is still healing! nerf pls.
Kill faster before Lick Wounds becomes available (you’re a thief and your dagger chain has poison on it btw O.o). Interrupt the pet with knockback, daze, etc. Blind the Ranger to stop the Ranger’s interrupt and Stomp him dead. Win!

honestly I main a ranger and the fact that nobody here manages to down one before Lick Wounds becomes available is frankly pathetic.
Please, the thief going stealth while down and getting up, spiking from stealth(“Hey, look at me! I’m gonna spike this person with a grand, obvious, exposing move!”), and still stealthing off objects(that as supposed to be fixed) is OP. Nerf the thief’s stealth before any and all other skills.
Broken stealth is the reason I don’t WvW more than I do. A good thief exploiting stealth should almost never die because they can simply reset the fight the moment it goes against them.
Back on topic, it still seems to be an issue if you can’t damage a downed player, regardless of whether you “should” have been able to spike him already. There are numerous reasons why a spike might be delayed.
I’ve been spike with the Lick the Wounds active, so I don’t see the problem. All classes have certain ways to avoid damage when downed , or to keep enemies away from them. In the Lick the Wounds category the pet is literally shielding you from projectiles.
I main ranger, and lick wounds is a noteworthy downed skill as people have stated. I have been spiked, or my pet has been killed while reviving and I am downed all the same. The skill’s heal is not dissimilar to an actual player healing. All pets can be killed easier than players or knocked away as well. I don’t think it’s necessarily an imbalance compared to a warrior’s #3 or the downed damage capability of a necro or traited downed thief. I almost feel like anet pushes ranger survival builds since spike damage is not constant with the class and ranger downed #3 fits that mentality.
The lick wounds is definitely over powered. Ranger is the only character is pvp that I would not cleave or bleed out because of its pet. One person I run dungeons with every week is a ranger and I have seen self rezzing that should simply not be possible. My group has wiped at bosses that do massive damage and the ranger pet just rezzes the ranger right through it, no problem at all.
