Ranger Pets are UNRESPONSIVE after Update!!!
Here is video proof – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpYTv9Dwxag
All those significant beneficial changes to Warrior and making the Spellbreaker a significant difference in the competitive meta and yet Ranger pets are now more unresponsive than they ever have been! At least acknowledge this issue please ANet!
+1 pretty useless most of the time
Yeah it’s pretty awful to swap pets and get that extra speed only for your pet to waste all of his just durdling at your side.
Another patch and still no ranger fix, unreal.
Also using druid staff 3 in the pet smoke field doesnt give stealth.
We should retitle all these forum threads to Warrior and it has 1000 times more chance of getting looked at.
Come on another, give us something or just say working as intended so we can move on to Warrior.

I have the same bug. Fix please.
I don’t play ranger/druid that often but it’s surreal to see how anet doesn’t acknowledge the bugs this profession is having since the last patch. :o
Maybe you guys should post on reddit like warriors and necro? :v

It has been noted and acknowledged on Reddit, where Gaile directed people to please post on the official forums instead so that the actual programmers would have a better chance of seeing it. Different pet types are also consistently experiencing different lengths of delay after swap (Moa has a much shorter delay before acting than say Bristleback, with Tiger somewhere in between, for instance.) This leads me to suspect that it is a much trickier bug to fix than just changing a line of code or two, and may take a little more time than the fixes already pushed through. More details are always appreciated, particularly in a single consolidated thread. They didn’t necessarily “acknowledge” a lot of the bugs that they fixed in the last patch, but they fixed them all the same. Just keep giving detailed reports and hang in there. I imagine that the programmers have a LOT of things they are trying to fix all at once, and have very little time to discuss exactly which ones are ready to go live and which aren’t.
Let’s hope this will get resolved soon.
The mos recent update has made a number ( if not all) of the ranger’s pets unresponsive to commands. They take at least a good 2-5 seconds before they use their skills and even attack.
Here is a thread of others who are also experiencing this bug.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/Possible-massive-pet-bug-Unresponsive/first#post6679971This is quite game-breaking for us rangers (esp those of us who pvp), hopefully you guys can fix it ASAP!!
I have had the same problem for months, even before the last ‘updates’.
Pet either is completely static or it jerks around but doesn’t attack – and it’s not every time or every fight – intermittent as heck – never know when it’s going to happen, that’ the worst.

This latest pet issue (since the 8/8 patch) is consistent, if anet actually plays the game I don’t see how this could have slipped through into the path
I main a ranger and had planned to use him during the PoF preview, but it looks like I’ll be taking my guardian or perhaps my reaper.
Just so we’re clear, I’m a solo player – Kirito
Live, Laugh,
Same here. Please fix asap. Rangers don’t need their pets to be spectators after swap, especially not in pvp.
I also main ranger and have for years. This unresponsiveness on pet swap occurs across all game modes and both in and out of combat. I really don’t want to feel like my class is unplayable/non-competitive because a core mechanic of the class is completely busted at the moment. This bug makes ranger essentially unplayable, as I rely on effective (and functioning) pet swap and ability triggers to burst dps and get myself out of tight spots. I cannot play when my pet just sits around and does nothing for up to 5 seconds after swapping, much less benefit from on-swap traits benefiting both ranger and pet.
The Plot thickens….
It seems like different npc enemies make rangers pet act differently. I haven’t tested all combinations – and why should I have to – but I came across this odd behaviour;
Attacking a Warg in Kessex Hills, every pet-swap gives the said 2-5 seconds delay before the new pet engages.
Attacking a Ridgeback Skale in Bloodtide Coast, after the first swap the Skale can only see me. Pet does not engage at all, just runs after me as a mini. Same thing happens after 2nd and 3rd swap. On the 4th swap however, the Skale suddenly notice my pet and attacks it and my pet engages it.
How can such profound flaws pass QA and why haven’t this been addressed yet inspite of several additional hotfixes to the patch?

For a long time, I did not have any issues with pet responsiveness. However after this last patch it is impossible to pvp. Pet simply afks for some period of time after swap and it can’t be relied on neither for damage nor for interrrupting the enemy. It is completely useless until it wakes up somehow. At the moment I feel as a liability to my team, honestly.
As per the related thread in ranger sub-forum it seems pet issue and the issue with staff #3 skill are being addressed and the fix is on the way (soon).
