I’ve gotten this a few times now in the last week. The Greatsword skill Swoop will have an animation issue after using the skill where it never goes away unless you leave the map or log off. (Not even death gets rid of it. ) It’s continuous and, as you can see in the image, it’s even on while I’m in water.

I play a ranger on SBI, and our EB has a queue almost 24 hours a day, so I really dont want to leave the map.

Please fix.

It’s worse now.. there’s swirly animations around me along with the annoying swoop animation that I cant get rid of except my leaving the QUEDED for hours EB map.

Anet, this is probably due the human run change. Please FIX ASAP.

Nothing to do with any human animation change: I noticed a friend’s Charr ranger with the lingering effect the other day.

Fortunately it started as we were wrapping up a Nightmare Chamber.

I experienced the same thing on my Norn ranger last week. It’s particularly bad if it happens in WvW because logging or changing maps means another 2 hour queue.

I’m getting this animation glitch on Ranger Swoop GS daily now in WvW. I can’t play more than 1 hour w/o it showing up.

The kitten constant wing flapping noise makes it hard to hear other skill sounds, which I depend on to fight as effectively as possible. Also, visually, it’s very distracting and hard to see my weapon changes while in combat. It started happening around 1 to 2 weeks ago. It seems to trigger when I’m in the thick of combat (zerg vs zerg fighting) and using my GS heavily.

When it happens now, I just exit out of Gw2 for the remainder of the day. I’m not waiting hours in queue to get back into WvW due to this.

This needs FIXED ASAP!

I’ve reported it in game and on this forum. CAN a ANET DEV respond, please?

I wonder if this relates to the sparklies I see longer on my character at times…

There’s sparklies that corpses get when they have loot to pick up, I’ve noticed those periodically on my ranger, and they periodically go away, but I tend to hop maps a lot…

Mind, the sparklies look neat, but I start expecting someone to loot my corpse when I see them…

this is STILL happening to me on my ranger… makes dungeon runs hard when I can’t see anything around my toon and cant re-zone.

BEYOND frustrating.

I happen to prefer to Ranger class and as such play on multiple rangers for this reason. I’m unsure as to how long the ’’swoop’’ bug has been in game, but many is the time that I have had other players (especially noobs) asking me what I am doing with a bird stuck in my head – only for me to explain that it is a known glitch. Your right of course, it needs to be addressed, as does the shark attack option (forget which character) that shows a person with a ghostly shark in the middle after the attack has been used – and that includes on land as well (after coming out of the water)!

I don’t know if there are any more threads on this issue, this is the one i found so i’ll just bump.

Seems like this bug has been around for quite a while now, which would be kinda “ok” i guess, but for me, it’s been starting to show up much more frequently nowadays than a few months ago. I tried to figure out what causes it – i’ve found that if i use Swoop and immediately press a button for another skill, it will get stuck 80-90% of the times.

Please voice your misery, fellow rangers who have this bug still. It would be so good to get a fix on it, as it is very annoying, and i find myself not wanting to even use gs, however much i like it…

Hmmm… this bug thread that I posted will be hitting its one year anniversary in about a week. However, so far I’ve seen no changes regarding this bug. Maybe since there are more people playing ranger now, we’ll see some positive traction soon.

If you seem to run into this problem often, you can try to avoid it by not interrupting Swoop until the animation is completely done (let the skill finish before doing another skill). If someone interrupts your swooping, which may not be possible anymore, but if it does happen… get your warthog pet out, have him drop some gunk and throw it in the perp’s eye!

We’ll see what happens and try to stay optimistic. C’mon, Anet, show us some Swoop Love!

I have this happen a lot too. On sylvari, norns.. humans.. charr.. All of them (never seen it on an Asura though), and whether I play them or not. I was grouped for a teq defense the other day and had to deal with one of my teammates being plagued with this.

I figured it was a Mac client issue, but it half relieves me, half frustrates me that this happens on Windows as well.
It frustrates me because it happens to me on my ranger too, or when I’m playing with my friend. Nothing is more frustrating than having to log out/log back in simply because the friend I play with tells me “You have a bird stuck on you.”.

It also happens on the Dart (#3) on spear leaving you running around with a shark in your waist.

Same problem here. My ranger is Sylvari if that makes any difference. It’s very irritating to go through a whole dungeon run with annoying swoop sounds emanating across the room from another family member’s computer who is in the same dungeon with me. Not to mention the family member who has to endure the bird stuck in my head and sound during the run. Not fun for sure.

Wow this glitch seems to be old. And still people have it? Why can’t they fix this D: I have it now suddenly, I never had it before, but about two weeks ago I started getting it whenever I used that skill, I don’t have a shark through my waist yet though, thankfully. At first I thought it was cool because the bird was stuck on my back kind of, so it looked like I had wings, but it’s really annoying now since I constantly hear the wings making noises >__<

Correct me if I’m wrong, but as far as I remember the old version of this glitch made other players see the eagle animation and not the ranger player himself. Now it’s the other way around.

The glitch still exists, and now also when I use Swoop instead of moving forward I stay on the spot every now and then.

Bumped because it’s still bugged.

Happens all the time.
Will never be fixed until after HoT when team returns to fixing little bugs in the actual, current game…

Bug still there. Seems to only show up for me in Dragons Stand with a large group. But it is pretty consistent there. Only fix I’ve seen is a reload of the map, when the dragon is killed.
