I whoopsed and bought the Ranger box last night only to discover I couldn’t open it. Some quick research revealed this bug and that a wait time was in order. So now i am anticipating opening it and finding something very cool in there. (I hope)

To late ive already got one, and now i cant open it.

You feel screwed? How about the people who opened the box, got gear that was unusable, and aren’t even dignified with a response when they ask if they will be refunded?

I wish it had just been taken off the vendor while it’s being fixed. I bought a box before and was disappointed with what I got but I was atleast able to use those items to sell in Trading post or throw in the forge . I bought a 2nd box a few days ago to give it a chance to redeem itself and I find it is not useable at the moment. Why let me buy it then!? I could have spent those laurels on something else.

I made that mistake myself, only a few moments ago, and just came upon this page when I discovered I couldn’t open the box. I’m not too upset about it myself. I know I’ll be able to open it eventually, so all this really means is that I just have to wait a bit. I’m fine with that. Heck, now I’m more excited about opening it.

Really inclined to say you need to remove the option to buy them from the merchants. I too have bought one last night (yes, without checking the bug list – why ever would I think I needed to?) and now have 5 days worth of ‘work’ (I use the term lightly) effectively rendered useless for the time being- I really could have used those same five laurels on some tier 5 crafting bags but thought I’d treat myself instead!
Pretty disappointed to be honest – although of course not as much as those from before the temporary “fix”.

Could we have a little information as to a rough ETA on this? It’s been down for a week now, with no official correspondence on the matter for 6 days. Just to be kept in the know (as best you can) would go far to elevating some of the annoyance a lot of us are feeling, I’m sure. After all – a bug is a bug, a mistake – nothing more. There’s nout to be done but wait. It would just be nice to know how long we had to wait for.

I totally agree with you on this. I bought the Ranger laurel box without knowing it had issues, and now its just there in the inventory while I could have bought one from another class.

Hi i am having a problem with ranger gear that u buy in exchange of 5 laurels from Laurels Vendors in Lion Arch….I made exchange but i cant open it :S it gives me a red massage ( that content has been temporarily disabled. please try again later.) Well i been trying for past 2 week and still i am getting same massage can u tell me what is happening …? i thought that it work in this update but it didn’t.

the ranger laurel box is currently disabled due to the bug that it was giving equipment not usable by rangers.

yup just bought the ranger box, then when i couldn’t open it found this thread. perhaps they could give a warning before you buy the box if its going to be longer than a few more days. At least I can’t open it and will wait it out until the fix.

My recommendation for those who got rifles is to sell it on the trading post and use the money to buy something you can use. I doubt Anet has any means of telling whether a rifle came from a laurel box or any other source.

Edit: Although my preferred but highly unlikely solution would be for Anet to make rangers able to use rifles.

I am so glad that I abandoned my useless ranger now.

If I could only redeem my laurels used on item I do not want, such as “unopenable” chest it would be nice. In wow we have about 2 hours to return an item and get back spent currency, such as honor points and so on. In my case returning ranger chest in 2 hours after purchasing it, would give me back 5 laurels, so I could use them for something else. Just a thought

Some of us have been sitting on these stupid things for almost two weeks! Is there a potential issue when all the thousands of accumulated boxes people kept buying because there was no warning suddenly get opened?

Any eta when this will be fixed? Not really happy about the fact that there was no warning anywhere not to buy this and now im stuck till it’s fixed.

I am frustrated with this. I have been sitting on these boxes for a while now and thought for sure that during the last maintenance it would have been resolved. At this point I would rather have my laurel points refuned and buy something else.

I wish I would have seen this before I bought mine last night.

2 weeks is kind of insane not to have a fix, or at the very least a ‘please don’t buy this useless box’ message. I’m sure there’s good reason, but it’d be nice to know that reason.

A guildie just bought one from the laurel merchant and he can’t open it. The message “content unavailable at this moment”. Are you aware of this?

Yes. They didn’t work as intended (i.e. giving heavy/light armor) instead of gear that rangers can wear.

Seriously , over 2 weeks and 2 patches later and you STILL HAVENT FIXED THIS!!!!!!! I better get a chest full of legendary gear for this absolutely pitiful service – how many hundreds of rangers do you think are out laurels? Way to go.

So… 16 days later and this still isn’t fixed AND I was still able buy the ranger box. Eff my life.

just purchased one of these boxes and found this trying to figure out why i can’t open it. then i see that it’s been a little over 2 weeks and still hasn’t been fixed and i’m extremely disappointed i decided to buy one in the first place. i have boxes that just take up slots in my bank, and so far it seems like you guys aren’t fixing it any time soon. not going to lie, this is pretty crappy. it would be nice if you could let people know what the deal is before they decide to buy these and just waste their time.

I’m trying to open the 2 Gear Ranger Box, and have tried for two days now. It states that it is disabled right now. I am not the only one experiencing this issue.

I understand that there is a lot of things that you have to deal with there. However, just keeping us informed would be nice. “Hey, were working on it, sorry for the delay.” I have to agree with early posts. With the crappy service, it better be worth the wait when we do get to open them.

I do agree with Demerrik. It best be worth the wait Ive had my boxes for a while now and keep checking them after each update to see if it is fixed yet. How about giving us some Karka boxes :P . No, seriously though best be worth the wait … <—-see the 3 periods? That means serious business …

What I don’t understand is. There is a nice little login screen in which they could tell people “Hey! Don’t buy the Ranger Gearboxes! They don’t work! They aren’t fixed yet!”. Anet used the login screens to tell the community what was up in GW1, why cant they now?

Well, you can add me to the list of unsuspecting rangers that wasted laurels on a box that doesn’t work. :/ Just spent my monthlies on two boxes and found this thread after they wouldn’t open. So that was a fun introduction to the laurel system.

Not sure if this is where to post this but here goes. I purchased one of the chests from the laurel vendor in Divinity Reach. It was the 2 Ranger item chest. When I try to open it I get the message; “That content has been temporarily disabled. Please try again later.”
I have looked through posts on the forums and have seen no one else who has posted any threads about this issue. This is new content, is it really disabled already?

Well Sir, I did do a search for “Laurel Vendor Ranger Chest” and NOTHING came up. So your idea didn’t work for me and thus i made a post in the bug forum also. Fact of the matter is, it has obviously been an issue for over 2 weeks now with no fix. Should I do a search for “Bugs not fixed” too. Sorry but you come off a little on the rude side.
