Ranger pet take too much damage after patch?
I think they decided to up the “challenge” of the game globally. Seems DPS nerf was only a part of it. IDK, the game just doesn’t feel right after patch. No matter the profession or where we’re playing. Whatever it is, my appreciation for it is dwindling.

I feel your frustration. It’s good to play when things work properly. I miss my owl named, “Hooter”, being alive when I play. I feel like 1/2 of me is just not there anymore.
When I say, “Get em Hooter”, Hooter is already dead…

Dev team please. You guys did a hot fix for the pets doing too much damage. But chieftain is still two shotting my pets…please hot fix this.
I was playing WvW tonight, and my Wolf seemed to melt almost instantly, whereas the Jungle Spider felt as resilient as normal. Perhaps it is only limited to specific pets or families.
For the purpose of troubleshooting, we should try to indicate which specific pets are not working as expected:
Wolf (WvW)
It isn’t just their ability to stay alive that is the problem. I PvE and my pets no longer hold any aggro. This makes things somewhat difficult esp in areas like Orr. I’ve tried in multiple areas and against a champ I’ve never had problems solo’ing before and the problem is present still
Bump, this issue is very well alive, and needs a fix. And the funny thing is PVP is where i Noticed it first too. My pet rarely died, except when i was careless and didn’t micro-manage them at all. Now EVEN with heavy micromanagement, they die in no time, even when people don’t focus them. This is ridiculous. Please fix asap.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option

In wvw, my pets are dying much quicker than they did before this last patch, even with constant micro management.
Also, some F2 abilities still take 1.5 seconds of windup before firing.

Rangers are also reporting their pets no longer holding aggro, which leads me to suspect the possibility of a toughness bug.
Might be a good idea to check your pet’s toughness in the pet panel when you notice unusual squishiness/lack of aggro and report here any unusual numbers.
we also have several issues with pet related traits, such as commanding Voice
Currently @ some T1 server in EU
Pets took too much damage BEFORE the patch, and STILL take too much damage. Nothing has changed, nothing was improved.
The aggro problem is still present although it seems to be affecting some pets and not others. I ran through a few of my pets today and found not all of them have been affected.
My black moa, drakehound and a jungle spider could not hold aggro at all.
My river drake and shark were holding aggro.
I have yet to go through the rest of them and as of yet have no idea why some are affected and some are not
Was just in sPvP and pet were dropping in a blink of an eye. That bull patty isn’t right at all. Beside the fact that I believe a DPS Ranger is even more laughable than ever before. GJ with balancing hat Devs, GJ! <—— sarcasm
Confirmed. The champions in the PvP rest areas are now slaughtering the pets like never before.

Not so sure about PvE, but the pets are definitely getting slaughtered in PvP.
As others have said the problem is still present. Please fix.
Or…undo the hot fix that solved the pets doing too much damage? Tit for tat? Sure they can do that much more damage but they are also taking that much more.
I mean for Pete’s sake. It’s just gosh darn infuriating.
Please don’t let this become the SB arrow speed debacle all over again…

Same, to make it worse my felines are being horrible and doing whatever they want….

April 15th patch dropped. Rangers pets were bugged. They were doing massive damage 7-12k auto attacks and were also squishy, they could be 1 shotted by simple aoe. Well, 1 day later Anet patched the 12k auto attacks, but never fixed the toughness of the pets.
8 days later our pets are dying to enemies in 1vs1 situations. Please investigate.
Forgot to mention: I’ve been playing since beta. Ranger is my main and this bug alone is driving me away from this game.

It’s funny, when our pets are auto attacking for 10k hits, they’ll patch that quickly(next day), but when they die in 1-2 hits, they don’t address the issue at all…

They’re dying to the HotM mobs faster because those mobs were buffed like crazy.
Not sure about this whole “pets die too easily in 1v1” stuff. The ones I’ve faced seem really sturdy, and every time I tried to focus them, the ranger bursts me down. Perhaps it’s a player issue, like you aren’t spec’ing properly?
I tried running again last night but the pets I like to travel with are still not holding aggro. Would really be nice is someone from Anet acknowledged this because I’m not feeling inclined to play being that my favourite class has been bugged since the patch. Maybe I will have to play and spend money on one of my other MMO’s for a while instead

This is a reasonable question. So, let me tell you, my spec is exactly the same as it was prior to the patch. Beforehand, my pet and I could tank against PvP mobs, specifically the champions and NPCs in the Mist’s Rest Area, and end the fight full of life.
Now, I’m lucky to keep even a devourer alive.
Again, not sure if its a buff to the NPCs, a debuffs to the pets, or a combination of both.
Regardless, it needs to be addressed.

Still waiting on an answer as to why some of our pets no longer hold aggro since the patch ANet…….
Anyone know if these problems have been fixed or addressed yet?
