You can still mine them like normal this year. IIRC last year they just troll you on the minimap.

Maybe it wasn’t really a bug, just a poorly communicated “Mad King’s influence slowly fading away”. Since the Mad King didn’t have to break his way out this year his influence is fading slower this year.

I believe some of the Mystic Forges in WvW are still Halloween-themed, as well. =P
