For the past four or so days I’ve been trying to complete the story quest “Readings on the Rise”. I’m on the quest step where I’m to meet Zojja and find the artifact underwater near the Obscure Incline in Metrica Province, but the quest object (the VOED) disappears when I go underwater to use it and my action items are replaced by my usual weapon ones.

I’m having this same exact problem. Also an Engineer. Found you don’t lose the VOED unless you actually go UNDER the water, if you swim along the top and get to land again you still have the voed.

Ok, update, I got as close to the location of the artifact and spammed the voed as I ran into the water, I was able to find the artifact in the dirt by looking very closely.

Hello JasonKing, yes this is still an issue. I’m an engineer and the VOED disappears as soon as I go under the water. I’m in a group with one other person. I left the instance to reset it and this time I only swam on the surface. The VOED reappeared when I went back onto land.

Hello Jason, this is still and issue. lvl 9 asura engineer. you start off with the voed, if you go under water, you lose the voed and cant get it back. The artifact doesnt stay lit up by the voed long enough for me to dive down and see it if i spam the voed first. Pretty much stuck for my personal story. unlike Agala the voed doesnt reappear. I was solo.

played a few hours of wvw, the problem went away.

This bug is still occurring, the same as already stated, with Asuran engineer.

The bug is still occuring. I can confirm that it appears with the engineer class. Upon diving underwater, the VOED disappears and you are stuck in the personal story.

However, i was able to devise a workaround until this issue gets fixed. You can set the VOED on autofire (default ctrl + right click), which it will do every second. While swimming at the surface of water, you can’t access your VOED but it will keep on autofiring. Position yourself right atop the location, dive directly to the bottom of the lake and you will get your artifact.

Hope this will help those who are still stuck with this bug.

i can’t continue with my personal story because of this bug.

edit: i finished the story step by dropping the VOED at the very edge of the water, diving under water and grabbing it from there.

I am also having this problem with an Asuran Engineer right now.

Also having this bug, can’t complete the story quest.

EDIT: Used Serris’s suggestion of dropping the VOED near water and picking it up from there. Worked.
