Reporting Botting
In the meanwhile, you can hit your PrtScr key to take a fast screenshot and then refer to it at your convenience. Those muthas may be fast, but they can’t outrun a screenshot (though they may occasionally outrun your finger, so to speak ;-)).
Unfortunately, by the time your prtscr key gets pressed, the target has disappeared and you lose it. I know, I’ve tried.
The miliseconds it takes to id a botter and hit the key is more than the miliseconds it takes for them to appear/harvest/disappear.
Something better is needed.
If they changed it so that once you have clicked on them and ‘selected’ them they stay selected even if they disappear then you can report them in your own time.
@lynspottery: Perhaps for you, but I’ve never had any issue screencapping them before they disappear with the exception of cases where I don’t notice them ‘porting into a nearby node. In my experience, they take at least 2-3 seconds to do their stuff and wink out, which is far more than enough time for me to press a key. In fact, I still have 14 of the most recent mining bot screenies in my game dir. It’s quite functional for me, at least.
But yes, something better is needed. And (at the very least) actual code that can log every mining action and monitor where the miner goes after it’s done. Any target that shows up at another node with no intervening movement, or reaches another mode well before it should be possible under any legit circumstances (easily calculable by devs in the know), should be INSTANTLY bot-flagged and temp banned, with a notice sent to the peeps that handle these things to verify and process. I’d wager 99% of such instances would be bullseyes, with any outliers being flukes. I’d much rather be in a game where there’s a tiny chance I could be temp banned by mistake than one infested with bots screwing up the economy in multiple ways.
OP: they don’t want reporting to be easier then it allready is. this so there is a treshhold to stop people rage-reporting innocent people. (and yes that happens a lot).
For the appearing/dissappearing method you described. If you see a bot doing that please report what you saw here:

I’m not 100% sure but I do think this reaction has to do with a program I came acros a few weeks ago. I’m not giving the name or too much details bout it, but the description was claiming to do what you have been seeing. Off course I haven’t tried it.
So Arenanet is making work of banning accounts that are botting or exploiting. If you see a bot but don’t have the means to report them with their account name, make sure you report the incident in the botting hot spot thread.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
It takes but a moment to store a name in my head when I catch it. If it’s a long or strange name, I printscreen, at which point I simply add them briefly to report.
Reporting really should not be made easier than it already is. I’ve had a few times where I nearly reported a player for botting for simply logging in next to a node. (I prefer reporting in areas with multiple nodes, so I can actually see them teleport)
For the toast!
