My guardian toon “Tiger Pansy” was the first to complete this quest. She did not have the option (as in no 5 characters appeared) to choose a weapon. I spoke to the npc who just shoved the dagger into my inventory. After the reset yesterday I did the Knight of the Thorn phase. After reset today, the npc Ridhais still failed to show up in the home instance to allow the weapon to be swapped to another.

I completed the quest on another toon with crafted materials – they DID have the option to choose a weapon, and Ridhais does appear for them in the home instance.

Conclusion: If the “choice” bugs out and u never get an option, it fails the check later to see the npc.

Ok – solved – seems I had collected the Knights of the Thorn achieve only on the 2nd toon. So even if you have already got the achievement, you still have to talk to the Pale Tree on each character that does the quest to see Ridhais in your Home Instance.

Did you check around the home instance? She is not at the same location as during the quest.

I am well aware of her spawn location – as I noted, she does appear for another toon who has also completed the quest chain.

Did you get a letter in your mail about going to speak to the Pale Tree? I got one after reset (I did the current events the day before), and that NPC showed up in my home instance after I’d gone to the Grove to finish up the knight quest.

The letter apparently appears only after the first reset following completion of the initial collections. After speaking with the pale tree, nth-born Ridhais appears at her new location.
