Q:
Right click to turn screen fails alot
I second this.
It almost looks like a hardware failure, and my first thought was indeed that the problem is my mouse (Logitech G700), but a simple test outside of the game, does reponse perfectly.
The bug ingame either does not recognize a right click at all or recognizes a button release without me actually releasing the button.
Maybe it’s because you have “Right click to choose/attack target” or however it’s called activated? Just a guess, since many people have problems with that feature.

Nah, I certainly have deactivated it (since I play Ele alot)..

That was my first guess: hardware fail..
But I never have this problem outside of GW2..
And some other ppl I know have the same problem..
It causes alot of problems in WvW for me if I need to put fields on the battle since I cant aim at the right direction because of turn-bug..
Hey there. This is a known issue, and there’s a large old thread about it although I don’t recall where to find it. There is unfortunately nothing wrong on your end. The problem is the game somehow translating your gestures into a lot of right-clicks.
I have the same issue and solved it by using a program called AutoHotkey from http://www.autohotkey.com/, using a script looking like this:
#NoEnv
#SingleInstance Force
SetTitleMatchMode, 3
#IfWinActive, Guild Wars 2
MouseLook = 1
MButton::
Gosub, ToggleCursor
Return
ToggleCursor:
GetKeyState, state1, RButton
If state1 = U
{
Send {RButton Down}
MouseLook = 1
}
else
{
Send {RButton Up}
MouseLook = 0
}
Return
Using this I don’t have to right click to turn. I simply click my mousewheel, and the game registers that as me holding my right mouse button. When I click it again it releases the button.
I have not found any other workarounds.
I had this problem but it was my mouse. In game, I could right click but the problem is that to turn the button had to stay clicked. An out of game test showed no results because out of game testing only needs it to click initially, not stay clicked. I confirmed my mouse problem with $5.00 mouse from Big Lots.

Wow.. Seems very complicated lol..
I prefer to have an asnwer where I can still use my right mouse button since every other button my mouse is used as an important button already..
Hopefully someone from the Dev’s could help me..
Thanks though, I appreciate your help!!
Cheers
You can always change the script to use another button, I just prefer the mouse wheel.
In any event that is the only solution available at the current time, except using another mouse for playing the game. A Dev can’t help you, the last I remember from the thread, they are still looking into it. I don’t mean to be a kitten, but my answer is the only you will get, I think. It sucks, but there is no way around it.
It is not that complicated though. Simply open notepad, put in the script, save as “all files” and name it blablawhatever.ahk
If you now double click the file, the script will run until you close the program.

Main thread for this issue:
Mouse losing focus -right click to turn not working [Merged]
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Mouse-losing-focus-right-click-to-turn-not-working-Merged
All of these are related to the same issue.
Issue: Mouse Button Loses Focus and Does Not Reacquire It
- Most of the time that this issue is present (it is inconsistent), the mouse actually loses focus and never reacquires it, which prevents character and camera orientation with the right mouse button and leaves the game in a completely unplayable state. Some days it is very bad and prevents you from even being able to play, other times it is only a couple times a minutes, but leads to frustration and not playing the game the rest of that day. Unfortunately, nobody really anticipates it being fixed any time soon. As I mentioned, it has been an issue since beta, so over 10 months of no acknowledgement or fix.
Issue: Nearby Friendly Target Being Selected Unintentionally Due To Mouse Button Losing Focus and Reacquiring It Quickly
- The recently added option to ‘Disable Right-click Targeting’ has helped with the linked issue of randomly selecting a nearby friendly target while moving your camera with the right mouse button. This happens because the mouse tracking has an issue to where the game reads you as releasing the mouse button (despite your having never released it) and then re-‘clicks’ the button down quickly. Due to this issue, if your cursor was over/near another friendly, then they become your new target as if you had intentionally clicked on them to select them.
Issue: Total Target Loss Due To Mouse Button Losing Focus and Reacquiring It Quickly Over Empty Area of the Screen
- However, disabling right-click targeting and interaction has simply made the issue of a new target stop happening, the issue of losing your target due to the glitch in mouse focus persists. Now we just have target loss due to the quick un-click and re-click of the right mouse button over an empty area of the screen which deselects the current target; instead of both target loss and random friendly selection.
The only workaround is to use AutoHotKey and the script that Treeline posted.

Woah, that was elaborate. Thanks, made for a good read
I had similar issues as well with my G700, but it was only when I updated the LGS from 8.40.83 to 8.45.??. It drove me nuts for days, until I reverted the software back to 8.40, and the problems went away. I have been thus far reluctant to upgrade to 8.46.
