I decided that this must be a bug in the system, since a rangers main attribute is its pet system then by all rights it should function accordingly, in level 70-80 area’s Mobs are completely ignoring rangers pets even when the player completely specs into the Beastmaster Trait, this is quite discouraging since a class that is based around a pet system has this main feature flawed. At least I’m assuming this is a flaw and not be design.

If this IS by design could you explain why pets must become useless in level 80 area’s? Well not useless completely, they can still deal a fair amount of damage, but no matter how low I spec my character I just seem to draw agro right away from an enemy that my pet is currently attacking.

I have a BM specced Ranger at 80 as well, and I’m pretty sure this is “working as intended”. This kind of behaviour is present all through the world, where some mobs will preferentially attack ranged characters over melee, if they can. The problem with Orr is that there, it’s the rule, not the exception.

Also, when they decide to close on you, they move like they’re world class sprinters, so you can kiss goodbye to the range strengths that define your profession. Once you hit Orr, the majority of combat tends to be right in your face. Sadly, that’s pretty much all you’ll have to look forward to for the rest of the game.

The best solution for this is to roll a Warrior. I’m learning that playing a Warrior “fixes” pretty much every problem I had with my Ranger. Kind of sad, but mostly true.
