Also, the point of this mini-bosses “phases” is to do tons of damage in his greatsword “phase” and then switch to easier phases to give you a chance to recover. Once he resets and starts walking back to his starting position, his health doesn’t automatically reset everytime, but his “phase” chain resets, so you are essentially fighting him almost the entire time with him doing 70% damage in one hit in greatsword “phase”. The clever damage & skill “phasing” that Anet incorporated in this mini-boss is now almost unrecoqnizable, and CoF is unplayable now IMHO. Anet, either drop his damage output considerably on his greatsword and keep the reset distance as it is now, or put the reset distance back to where it was originally.

One more note for this fight.
The issue isn’t that we are taking the boss too far away from the room. When he does his GS spin, he goes past us. Thus, if you are standing in the general direction of where he could reset, he will spin through you, thus putting himself into an area that he will reset in.
Any chance we can get a response from a dev on this? Is this fight working as intended? Why was it changed? Is it simply a bug?
Watching some youtube videos of this fight before the recent patch confirm for me that he is resetting much easier now.

Until this is resolved, the fight is broken, thus the story mode is not complete-able.
Yup, this just seems unnecessarily harsh.
3 GS whirlwinds in such a small room is pure evil for story mode, dodging all three of them without room to manoeuvre doesn’t seem very likely since dodges are finite and meant to be used at critical times, but with three Whirlwinds that’s pretty much all the time.
New patch notes came out and no mention of this.
The dungeon is unbeatable in it’s current state. You are locking people out of this dungeon, but also all of the exploreable wings because the story must be completed first.
Can we at least get an acknowledgement that this is an issue that is known now?
lol. completed CoF story last day with little to none problem at all. killed this boss on the first try without any casualties.

Then please tell us the strategy that you used to get around the issue of him resetting so easily now?
Before the patch, this boss was a non-issue for my group.
Maybe they stealth fixed it with the latest patch put in yesterday. I haven’t run it since.
Can we get some info from a dev if this was an issue that has been resolved then?
Just killed him this minute. 3 thiefs, 1 gardian and a mesmer. kited no problem.
