been on the Silverwaste for the past couple hours, and I noticed these two players AFK’ing next to the red fort. At first i thought they were just afk, but when I watched, i noticed that they were dropping utility skills on a timed set pattern, and regardless if they got killed, the npcs near the gate would revive them. They are getting credit for the events, as I have seen them get the skillpoint level flash on multiple occasions over the hour.
I have included screenshots of the location, and the situation.

You can use the in-game Reporting Tool to report; that would alert those in a position to investigate and give them the needed information.

Good luck.

Is it still botting if you set your skill to auto attack using the capability that is built into the skillbar?

Auto attack doesn’t auto fire unless you’re actively playing as far as I know. If you’re standing there afk and a mob comes and attacks you your character isn’t going to start attacking.

From what the OP describes I’d report for botting and let Anet figure out what’s going on.

ANet can (and will) penalize players it identifies that are not actively playing the game, including those running scripts (aka bots), or macros, or otherwise giving themselves the ability to “walk away” (figuratively speaking) from the keyboard.

Players who want to report suspected behavior via the in-game tool should choose “botting” as the reason, since that is the closest to the circumstances. If reporters want to convey additional information (screen shots or a description of the behavior), they can create a support ticket instead.

Since it’s not my job to investigate and determine if someone is or is not botting or afk or otherwise getting rewarded for “afk” behavior (again, figuratively speaking), I would just /report and leave at that. ANet will either agree or not and either take action or not; as long as it’s not that many people, I’d prefer to enjoy the game than worry about people who are enjoying the rewards (but not the game).

As i made sure not to include names in the screenshots, it was not as much my intention to report the individuals here (though i did do the report function ingame) it was more of a request to see if Anet could do something to remove the exploit, like disabling the npc from picking up players or something, because that was the main reason they could keep gettting credit for 7 hours straight. (7 not being an exageration, was on the same map for that long, and the “afk’rs” in question were in that spot the entire time)

you can however go afk as a ranger, whatever your pet kills is his business.

That which has no life.
