Q:

Expected Results: Using a Black Lion salvage kit on Dire Exotics, gives a Dire Intricate Gossamer Insignia that can be used for ascended recipes.

Actual result: 4 dire exotics costing 22 gold gave ZERO Dire Intricate Gossamer Insignias.

22g is 3 days of farming for me. Had I known salvaging would not work, I would have bought the inscriptions at the very high price that they cost on the trading post.

If there is a random chance of getting the inscription, then put that in the wiki, with the rate. A random chance could mean I could spend 100g on exotics and get zero inscriptions, not exactly what I would consider good mechanics for a game.

The dire exotics are very expensive.

You are welcome to edit the wiki, as it is only as accurate as the information players provide. =)

I’m not sure but isn’t salvaging often a chance to get said items/materials? Such as Globs of Ectoplasm from rares, etc.

I’m sorry you didn’t have any luck getting the insignias.

AFAIK, there is no guaranteed method to salvage insignias/inscriptions from relevant items. The BL Sal Kit only guarantees you the chance to get the upgrades, i.e. sigils or runes; it does not guarantee that you’ll get ectos, ori (instead of mithril), dark matter, luck, or said insignia/inscriptions.

At the moment, there isn’t even enough published evidence to suggest whether BLSKs offer a greater chance of getting the scripts/insigs than mystic/master’s or less kits.

For what it’s worth, I use mystic kits, since they are relatively cheap if you because I have a bunch of mystic stones from the achievement chests. I very rarely see insignias or inscriptions drop.

its always better to just buy things outright in my personal opinion so you dont run the risk of paying twice for something, as a ‘chance’ to save some money usually costs you twice as much. i liken RNG in GW2 to going outside blindfolded and shooting a bird out of the sky with a bow and arrow….well that might be a bit of an exaggeration….there are a LOT of birds out there lol

The problem with me updating the wiki is I just don’t know. If other players have salvaged 10 exotic dire gear pieces and received 1 inscription, I will update the wiki to say low chance. If other players are seeing 8/10 then it would be high chance. If no one posts they have salvaged and received an inscription, there maybe a bug in the last patch.

People should only update the wiki with knowledge gained. So far I am in the dark.
