Sanctum Sprint Lightening Pull
I have a similar but reverse problem. I always transport too far…overshooting my target by a good margin. I can’t even finish a Sanctum Sprint race now if I’m alone.
Lightning pull has been broken for some time now, even the one out of Sanctum that was available at Labyrinthine Cliffs and now at Dry Top.. I keep having troubles with it.
Always been broken, many needless deaths and lost ground in racing cos of that.
Necroing this thread. Please devs, this needs to be fixed. I loved Sanctum Sprint up until recent. The Lightning Pull’s skill has degraded to such an extent that I can’t even finish a race if there’s a section that I need to use it. Lots of other people in the map I was in were raging about it as well. Overshooting and undershooting the target is a very regular thing.
So long Treeface.
“…Kormir? I know not of whom you speak.”
Even naked and with Traits reset I can’t finish Sanctum Sprint any more.
In the middle where I HAVE to use Lightning Pull I always overshoot.
Why on Earth is it not possible to FIX THIS?!?!?!
This is still happening.
Even with a ping well under 100ms, Santum Spring races are nothing but an exercise of frustration lately. Rather than ’who’s faster’ is about who can jump more times without being screwed by the skills.
If these jumps can’t be fixed in some way, those preset lightning jumps to Lightning Tethers should at least be replaced by something else until it can be fixed. For example, direct teleports using Lightning Flash’s animation and visuals to still fit the theme, with a longer casting so it takes the same time and it can still be interrupted.
I have to agree. I could not get to one specific platform with Lightening Pull and tried it almost 10 times. As I was standing on a platform with a Lightning Tethers I had no other option. I was on that platform as number 3, but got out of time because of this bug.
I have done Sanctum Spring at least 80 times and I never had this issue. I have no intention of doing Sanctum Sprint again until this bug is fixed. If it is part of the daily I will just run around at the start until the timer is over.
I expect the changes that messed up SAB are also at the root of this.
As of 11-27 it is still broken for Charr.
Might be time to reveal the secret.
Yeah this is still broken. Recently I tried to play Sanctum Sprint and was doing fine for the most of it, even being 1st for a good amount, that’s a thing I hardly get… but then I face the Lightning Tether for the first time and guess what? I couldn’t pass the kitten thing as it kept tossing me out of the cliff -_- So after countless tries I simply sat there and waited the timer ran out as I was unable to finish the race…
And you know what… after exploring Verdant Brink I have been wondering… look those Bouncing Mushrooms, don’t they act almost like Lightning Pull? And those Mushrooms works properly as far as I know… so why doesn’t have that kitten Lightning Pull been fixed yet? The behavior is very similar, why can’t Lightning Pull be fixed? Ah, priorities… who even plays Sanctum Sprint nowadays huh >.> Mordrem attack is a lot more important than a simply activity huh, huh /sarcasm
If it is part of the daily I will just run around at the start until the timer is over.
That just what I did after what I said above happened lol. I simply slept at the start for a whole round :P

I’m putting y’all on notice. I cannot possibly be the only one that knows this, but you can finish this [kittenkittenkittenkitteningkitten] race without resorting to Lightning Pull in any place where it will throw you over into the abyss.
However, I don’t really have an ability to make a vid, which this will probably require. Not to mention as soon as I type it, the methods will probably get ‘fixed’ ;( fixed, so that the race becomes impossible again.
So to whomever out there also knows how, you have a day to preempt me. I’m sure one of you has a video ready for youtubing.

I have found a few “shortcuts” there that doesn’t require Lightning Pull and they are even legal, but they aren’t always available (one of them is only opened for a certain time, after then your only way is through a path with LP). Not sure if the method you say uses glitches or “out-of-way” paths but I believe there are other ways indeed. However, there is no fun using workarounds or going out of way to bypass a broken mechanic
No glitches, but it does bypass that gate, which is what a vid would be really handy for demonstrating ;( It is also the bit that is likely to get ‘fixed’
Anyway, the secret is literally as simple as 1+2=3. Using Leap, or combining Leap and Light Dash simultaneously will get you across the gaps that are in your way. You have to position yourself carefully, and often you’ll need to make some corrective movements as you land. If you are lagging, you’ll rubberband like crazy while pulling this off.
Note that you need to poke your keys simultaneously when doing this. If Leap goes off first, you’ll nosedive into the ground and land short. If Light Dash goes off first, you’ll do a spectacular flying leap that goes long. If you have Aspect Master active or grab a crystal, you’ll overshoot, so use only the basic skills.
You won’t win a match using this method. Lightning Pull is always faster, and somehow some players still get to use it. Rubberbanding makes the dash slower than just walking, in most cases. The point is you get to finish.

Difficulties: Not all jumps are created equal.
At Checkpoint 1 (your score = 10) you can use Lightning Pull to cross. It is one of two places it can still be used.
At Checkpoint 4 you reach the first major branch in the race. The Lightning Pull way breaks off to the left. The bridge path is often gated off if you aren’t playing against a large group. There is a kitten in the support pillar on the left that you can Leap up to; the positioning is tricky and requires some practice. From there you can Leap again and get over the gate. Barring that, you can use your new Dash-Leap to get to a point further past the gate (difficult), or use it to try and cross the Lightning Pull platforms.
The bridge path is slower. You’ll lose time here.
Checkpoint 5 is the second major branch. Again, there is a Lightning Pull section, and a bridge section. The choice is obvious.
Checkpoint 7 is the first place that you are likely to get hung up without Lightning Pull. Carefully position yourself at the lip of the platform and use the Dash-Leap. You will have to keep moving forward during the leap in order to reach the platform. Be careful you don’t walk off of it. Once there, Lightning Pull to the other side. This is the last time you will use this skill.
Checkpoint 8 is the second hardest part of the run, opening with a Lightning Pull to a tiny distant tower-platform, followed by shorter Lightning Pulls to a big bridge. Dash-Leap from the very lip of the ledge will get you to the first platform; the next two are close enough that you are better off using just Leap. Lightning Pull to the bridge looks inviting, but it is very easy to keep rolling right off the end; do not be fooled.
Dulfy’s vid shows her taking a shortcut after Checkpoint 9 (right before Checkpoint 10). It uses Dash-Jump. She follows it up with another shortcut that I know has been blocked. I haven’t tested her method, but it neatly sidesteps the next section.
Checkpoint 11 is the hardest part of the run. Here we have three platforms requiring Lightning Pull, and only the last one has a backstop. Aim your first Dash Leap carefully to land you on the platform. The second Dash-Leap will always overshoot the platform. With luck, you will land on top of some trees just past it. From there, you can regular-Leap back up to the platform you missed, or make an attempt to reach the next platform. Do not Lightning Pull to the last platform; if you don’t hit the backstop squarely, you will roll off and have to do this segment again. Players love to dump their Fake Powerups here, so save a Grounded to negate them. If you’re lucky enough to have a Light Travel, this is the place to use it.
From there, you should be able to get through to the end.
Lightning Pull seems to be greatly affected by lag.
