Hello There,
I’d noticed the other day that I was having more difficulty than I expected to when dealing with an episode of my “Personal Story.” It was set at Level 50, and though I was level 53, all my gear was at level 50 (so good to go, right?). On the contrary. I found the hits from the mobs to take away huge chunks of health – not bosses, regular mobs. I also found I was doing pretty crap damage. I looked around a little bit, and saw that there seems to be an issue with down scaling in general. This one player suggested I write down my stats prior to a level change, and compare them post level up while wearing content/level appropriate gear. So I did. This is me at level 55, with all 55 gear (except for two 53 pistols), in a level 55 story instance. The second pic is of me just after level to 56 in that instance. I was surprised to see nearly all of my attributes drop.
I leveled up, and my attributes got lower.
I understood that the purpose of level scaling was to make it so that uber 80s don’t come in and stomp all over the mobs in the lower levels (preventing the giant in the playground problems). It somehow strikes me as working against the purpose if down scaling actually makes you less capable in that playground. And this is just the difference of one level. Is the drop in stats even greater if I’m level 58 or 59 wearing 55 gear? (Because I can’t wear 60 yet, can’t make anything in between, and buying new armor every level just seems impractical).
Surely there has to be better math/programming out there that can actually level the playing field, rather than hamstringing someone who just happened to level up.
