I have everything I need, but it’s not listed as an item than can be placed into the forge.

Have you tried placing the Sclerite Karka Shell in first? Sometimes, the MF is persnickety. =)

Look on the left side of the screen. It doesn’t show up at all, not even blurred out.

I see that after you have placed the other items in. I am asking if you tried placing it in first…before anything else.

I don’t think you understand. It’s not an option to be placed in the forge – at all.

I can see that from this screenshot. It was not evident from the other screenshot. Had it ever been transmuted?

No. I just bought it from the NPC.

Perhaps, the issue will be resolved in an upcoming update/patch/hotfix. Good luck.

Yo, I got this same issue with my Karka Shell. So atleast we’re not alone. idk….

I just upgraded mine in the mystic forge after reading this thread, but I’ve had mine since the first time they were given out, so it may be an issue with the new ones.

Maybe it has to do with them being Account bound at the exotic level as well. Idk

I have no idea why it doesn’t show up in the mystic forge while it should able to be ascended, have asked the other player and he said he just upgraded this a few weeks ago, it’s weird and probably a bug?

I have the exact same problem. I was so happy to see this reward return as I missed out on it the first time. Now I find out I can’t upgrade it to ascended I hope they fix this soon.

I just tried to do the same thing. Can’t upgrade mine either. I have a suspicion that the new item is actually a different item then the old one. If I remember correctly the old Sclerite Karka Shell had an Unused Defensive Agony slot even when it was exotic, which was weird. This new/returned version has what you would normally find on an exotic, an Unused Upgrade Slot. Perhaps this is why it’s not showing up as being able to be placed in the mystic forge – because it is a new item and no recipes exist for it so it’s grayed out. Maybe Anet forgot to add the recipe when they added it.

I had the same issue, i can’t ascend/ upgrade new Sclerite Karka Shell. I hope they would fix this soon.

a new patch came, still bugged
and i think @Quiv has the “answer”, its appears as a different item and doesnt show up in MF

if you notice, the original scelerite karka shell has an infusion slot, while the new one has a regular upgrade slot.

Even if it is a new item, it still says “Can be upgraded in the mystic forge” down the bottom of the item description.

I really hope it’s not the way Anet wanted it… It was really the piece I wanted to make it pink quality… I farmed it bought everything and… NOP, not possible…

The doubt about if it’s a new item or not can be easily answered maybe. If someone here has the old version, get the chat code in game and post it here. Those with the new version could do the same.

To get the proper chat code, type /wiki and put the item link, press enter and you will be taken to a search page on wiki. In the search field you will see the chat code. Not sure if simply copy pasting the link from chat would retrieve the code, then I suggested the way above.

Got to load a patch half an hour ago, but this issue was not fixed in it – still can’t upgrade it.

Which means they put the wrong version in the patch. That’s pretty evident considering it even says it can be upgraded in the Forge. Not sure how they’re going to fix this…might just have to send a ticket.

ya man, we all did that too. I’m sure they’ll fix it. Some dev had his finger in his butt when they added it.

I am unable to ascend the “Sclerite Karka Shell” I bought from the festival. It doesn’t show up in the Mystic Forge Inventory List.

Seems pretty obvious to me that Anet did not want this new Sclerite shell to be upgraded into an Ascended version.

The other piece was gotten from a special one time event and clearly as other posters have mentioned its 2 different items.

This is kind of a bigger problem. They have put out an item which clearly states can be upgraded to ascended, make the players do useless time crunching or spend over 20 to 50g (in my case over 20g) in the game to get the mats and say it is not possible is clearly telling the community how irresponsible they are.

We already put the work and we should reap the benefit.

Finally the wiki gets the update on “28 May 2014, at 02:35” stating the anomaly.

Considering that a major point of the event was to let users get their hands on legacy items, I’d say that they accidentally enabled a version of Sclerite that wasn’t meant to be available, especially considering that it says “CAN BE UPGRADED IN THE MYSTIC FORGE”

I’m also having the same issue. I send in a report. I think everyone (that hasn’t sent in a report already) should send in a report. The whole reason I got the back piece was upgrade it to ascended. I wish a Dev would comment on this thread so that everyone having this issue would know for sure that they acknowledge the issue. Even if this bug won’t be fixed soon a formal statement okittennowledgment would be great.

This is still not fixed as of today’s patch (June 3rd).

Any Word on a fix for this yet? Would love to get this kited and in use.
