Guild Wars 2

I’ve been having an issue since two days ago where, at random times throughout the day, the screen will go black, I will continue to hear background noise and music, but the game is otherwise unresponsive. I’ve had to alt+tab out and kill it every time it does this and relog. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, do you know how to fix it?

For reference, I am running the 64-bit version of the game client, on Windows 10.

There is not much you could do as it seem to be connection related. Reinstalling won’t help as I have just reinstalled my whole system and the issue persists.

Hey, so quick update. My web browser was having troubles loading web pages today, so I called the ISP and they had me flush the winsock cache or something. I went into the CMD prompt in Admin mode and put in the command “netsh winsock reset”. After that, my web browsing went smoothly and I haven’t had any issues on GW2. Have you tried that?

Hmm, that’s new to me then no, I haven’t tried it. However, as I have mentioned in that thread I have done a complete reinstall of OS recently and I had been having these issues even before that, then not sure. But I’ll give it a try and see how things turn out. Thanks.

what does netsh winsock reset really do? i want personal opinion on this.

As I posted in there I’m not sure it is really related. It could have worked for you but I don’t think it will apply to everyone. :/

I posted a solution for amd users down the bottom of my forum site that should work out with the custom resolution and window mode togeather

Hmm still, I’m afraid that we couldn’t be referring to the same issue. If it was related to resolution or windowed mode or not the black screen would happen right after the game loads and not after some time of game play.

Issues caused by graphic cards settings and others usually would be frequent and regular, happening always at certain moments or actions. The issue that OP and me are facing happens very randomly and out of nowhere.

Every 10 to 30 minutes or every few hours we’ll try the graphics card settings and do that solution what I mentioned then it should work

I’ve been having something similar. I think it has something to do with the windows refresh and windows focus. My problem is a bit more pronounced because it keeps making my second screen turn on and off. It sounds like the exact same thing that has been described in this thread. I’m suspecting it may actually be an update that Microsoft pushed out in one of their services that may be conflicting with the game.

Hmm well, possibly there are several issues with the same symptoms then. In the thread I linked here early I showed part of the game log that showed an odd connection behavior causing the game to disconnect. If in your case it has more to do with graphic cards and stuff then possibly we are facing different issues with similar effects :S

Well I never have a problem unless I’m running the game. And eventually after blinking on and off for several minutes, it finally settles down and everything is fine. I just get lag-killed every time the screen resolution decides to change.

I noticed when this is happening there’s something called DMProxy that keeps trying to run, even multiple times. I’m wondering if maybe the DMProxy.dll file isn’t compatible with some of the changes they made in the game. Might be freaking out while it is downloading content.
