I have been semi-afking in Queensdale waiting on the Shadow Behemoth event for close to 5 hours now and it has not started up nor the pre-event leading up to it. I’m not sure if the recent patch to the event has changed something;

• Queensdale: Fixed a bug in the “Shadow Behemoth” meta-event where the portals could become untargetable.

The event has just started up in the last 2 minutes, the 2 hour timing seems way off as Ive been tabbing in and out every couple minutes whilst browsing the forums.

Seems to be fixed now though, ill check again in the next 2 hours!

The timer is going to be all sorts of wrong due to all the new builds. Each new build = server reset.

He’s still missing on Tarnished Coast, myself and a slew of players have been waiting around for him for quite a while, in large part due to the fact that he’s now dropping Final Rest. Considering that I ran around for months farming events I thought FR would drop from, finally getting confirmed drops and finding the event broken is a little bit of a let-down, to say the least.

The 3 portal events around the swamp are not spawning on TC. Been guesting on other servers to get the event done. I would suggest that you do that right now if you want to fight him =)

I can second the bugged Shadow Behemoth on Tarnished Coast.

I’ve been in Queensdale for several hours as well, nothing going on.

I can’t help but notice that other events seem broken too, namely the Corrupted Champion Oakheart. The area around the point of interest has the ‘shadow’ tainted effect, as if the Oakheart was up, but it’s definitely not. Seems stuck.

Other servers have had normal spawn cycles, and it does indeed seem like guesting is the way to go…

After standing near the swamp meta event for several hours I can confirm that he has not been up. Whether this is a bug or intentional I dare not say. None of the pre-events started either.

Question, this is more for me figuring out how the event works:

Have you been doing the non-portal events as well? I’m trying to figure out if there are event per-requisites for the portals to show up.

I’ve always thought that two summoning events in swamp(book in necromancer’s shed and a scholar near renown heart NPC) have something to do with the Behemoth.

Just an update, Behemoth has spawned at least once on Tarnished coast since the time of my last posting.

Not sure what the hold up was, but Scholar Breanna(? Brinna?) was definitely sitting around doing nothing for hours near the monastery.

Confirming that Shadow Behemoth is once again bugged and won’t spawn on Seafarer’s Rest server. I think it’s got to be the defend the brew shipment event that is blocking the issue close to the monastary. Sister Brenda and her trusty brew-carrying Dolyak are standing completely still a bit west of the monastary and obviously not initiating one of the pre-events as they should – that is, if it’s a prequisite event for the Shadow Behemoth as the wiki seems to suggest – or rather, blocking the pre-event of Secrets of the Swamp that should spawn in the monastary to close off those underworld portals.

However, I guested on Gunnar’s Hold last night and the event was not yet bugged there.

Anet – how about you look into the pre-events and just remove the standard dynamic events that seem to cause the blocking issues? Clearly people are more interested in doing the Shadow Behemoth world event than kill a champion oakheart or protect a brew shipment. Or just allow the events to co-exist even though it could be a hilarious mess in the area with the champion Oakheart kill Aatxes spawning from portals, etc.

I wonder why in cases where escort quest NPCs bug out and stand still, making completing these dynamic events impossible (which has happened to me more than once), that the server doesn’t additional start a script which checks the escort NPC every 10 seconds or so, “Are you moving or in combat? Are you in the correct area? If not moving and not in combat, or not in the correct area, reinitialize. If already reinitialized, reset event completely from start. If already reset once, give up and have event continue as if succeeded.”

Behemoth not spawning on Stormbluff Isle for 4 or 5 days. Sister Brenda is indeed stalled. Maybe get rid of her as a pre-req. What’s a brew shipment got to do w/ a monster spawning anyway?

Strange bug. I did experience Sister Brenda stalling for one minute after trying to initiate the Brew Shipment event, but I haven’t seen it get stalled for hours.

On Yak’s Bend Shadow Behemoth has not spawned since 6pm on March 13th. Iwas on last night over 4hrs then when I woke people in the map said it was still broke. After looking into it I believe it’s because something is blocking Secrets in the Swamp to come up. Come to think of it I havn’t seen Oakheart Champ so that maybe why. I don’t know if anyone else has reported this or if there is a place other than here to report it because I am new. But I felt as if I should.

Also Dwayna has been bugged all day on Yaks and the I think the Southern Invasion for Balth is stuck.

I think the problem with SB and Oakheart not spawning is related to Sister Brenda not moving during the brew escort mission. Not finishing that mission breaks the quest line.

Sister Brenda is stalled on the Yaks Bend server. She has been for about 24 hours or so now. The Shadow Behemoth hasn’t shown it self since late Wednesday and neither has the Ancient Oakheart.
I am really surprised that more people haven’t reported this on the official forums.

On Ferguson’s Crossing. Can confirm that SB hasn’t spawned all of the last 6 hours I spent online. Sister Brenda hasn’t moved from her location, and the Champ Oakheart hasn’t spawned in at least as long either. The only thing I have seen spawn is the Troll.

Confirming it was stalled yesterday on Ferguson’s Crossing. Haven’t logged in this morning, so I don’t have any further update.

Well on another post I saw on a different server is having the same problem so hopefully they are working on it on all servers.

Dwayna bugged again on Yaks, the Malchor part of the event never starts, it just freezes.

Bugged on Kaineng as well. Noticed it yesterday. Haven’t been online today so can’t tell if it’s still stuck.

It’s bugged on Magumma. I’ve been on here since about 11am and it has never spawned.

Have you killed the invisible mob underground on Maguuma?

There isn’t anything underground for Maguuma. Champ Oakheart hasn’t spawned either.

There’s a really odd problem I’ve ran into in the godslost swamp. I happened to run into the protect the brew shipment quest and noticed the NPCs related to it were not moving unless it was to attack something. Other than that the NPCs just run back to the same spot, then sit there and do nothing until another enemy attacks. I have a screenshot of the location, along with the dialog. Is she supposed to mention centaurs during this?

She’s bugged again on Tarnished Coast and won’t start her escort quest . . . thus stopping Shadow Behemoth from spawning.

Edit: Apparently, the Champion Oakheart is also not spawning either. No idea if those two events are connected, but suspect they are.

I can also confirm that neither I or my whole guild has seen Shadow Behemoth for at least 3 days now. I haven’t noticed any events related to him pop up either in Queensdale.

On Fort Aspenwood we have had it bugged for a couple of days now. The wiki says there is no tie in to the Brenda Escort event, but Brenda is bugged on our server and is just standing still with no way to activate her. Need to maybe check if there is indeed a link to the Shadow Behemoth someplace.

Not to be a wise guy, but based on the comments here, protecting the brew shipment (Brenda Escort) mission is most definately tied to the Shadow Behemoth spawning.

This is why I hate having a user editted wiki as the official source of information on a game. It obviously needs updating in this case.

So what I am hearing is that Tarnished Coast will not have a Shadow Behemoth meta event spawn for a week?

going to chime in here, but it hasnt been spawning in Fergusons crossing for over a week now, none of the pre events spawn either

Since yesterday night, SB has no spawned on Crystal Desert either.

Are you clearing off the events that stops the pre-events from starting?

SB hasn’t shown up either on our server (Henge of Denravi) in the last while. Other than the spawning portals, the only “pre-events” I know of is the brew shipment (which is a go) and the champ oak one (which hasn’t spawned in a long while either).

The escort quest is one of several pre-conditions for the SB spawn. It has to be completed first, though.

If the oakheart spawns during or immediately following the brew shipment completion, SB pre-events will not start until after the oakheart is killed; since one of the SB pre-events takes place in the same location.
(I have no idea if it’s possible to do this, but if the oakheart is on a separate timer, and not actually one of the pre-event triggers itself, it would be VERY living world-y to have the SB pre-events launch and run down to participate and see the oakheart being zerged by shades and aatxes. Just saying.)

At any rate, the oakheart has to be cleared, the brew shipment has to be protected, because both have components that take place in locations able to block the SB pre-events.

Prior to the spawn window, hunters wanting to do the SB event should go kill the oakheart, complete “Drive the centaurs back” and launch the brew shipment quest so that Sister Brenda and the pack bull move off along their track and Abbott Mathias can return to his original position.

There is a partial pathing bug in the scripting for Sister Brenda, I suspect, because during the event yesterday, the brew shipment event had launched, and at the second ambush point, the pack bull stopped, and Brenda ran all the way back to the abbey before returning and continuing the event chain. As soon as she and the bull were at Swamplost Haven and the oakheart was dead, the pre-events launched immediately.

Also, Dana – if the oakheart stops spawning, it’s because SB has missed more than one timer cycle. Make sure Abbot Mathias is in his correct position, and the brew shipment is clear, and the events should launch.

The brew shipment event does not need to be completed. It DOES need to be started. Once the shipment has gotten a certain distance(the WP is good enough) away from the abbey then the pre-event can start.

I thought it was already clear that Rotting Ancient Oakheart and Sister Brenda cannot be at their spawn locations. lol

Brenda and the brew escort wont start on Sea of Sorrows. She has been standing idle for at-least a full day now.

Brew shipment event was already completed (to the end) several times on our server (HoD). Champ Oak has stopped spawning completely.

Since there was a game update (do not see any update notes announced yet though), I suspect the issue is temp. fixed.

On Drakkar-Lake the Behemot event seems to be bugged again. The Oakheart does not spawn. I think it might have something to do with the brew shipment not triggering. Meaning the lady stands there but the event to protect the shipment does not start. So whatever you did on the march update seems not to cover the whole problem.
