I have been stood for ages waiting for the gates to open in the instanced first event when you start the game. There is now loads of people waiting to get through the gates. it’s bugged and event will not progress so can not create a new char.

go to a guest server and do the first bit, it works i just did it. go char creation screen, select world and click on guest.

I can confirm that, that works. do the quest in guest server

I decided to stay and see how long it takes them to fix it. waiting now ~1.5 hours and nothing. The new guy here with me is not that happy.

Reddit post, 2 ingame reports and this here is not enough…

3 hours later and still nothing. You cannot finish the human tutorial. The only work around is the guest server thingy but nearly no one knows that.

Odd, maybe gm:s are just too busy

4 hours later, still nothing. I’m lvl 2 now after killing only centaurs. (they give 3 xp btw)

You stood around, ignoring the fix and not trying anything else. If you truly expect a reddit post to yield results, good luck finding a happy consumer experience elsewhere.

I don’t know from where you got the information that I didn’t try anything else. There is this thread, 5 ingame reports and the reddit post. That should be enough to get someones attention.

This wasn’t about me anymore the moment the workaround was posted. The reason I was staying was to see how many know about the workaround and how long it takes Anet to react.
Let me tell you that maybe 1/10 people did know about it. And I’m rounding up here. This wouldn’t been that big of a problem if this was something the majority of the players knew about. But they didn’t.
Many players, new and old ones, didn’t know about this. What kittenty first impression is this for a new player when the tutorial is buggy and you wait half an hour without an GM doing anything.

Hmm…if you witnessed others that did not know about the workaround, did you inform them of the possible ways to move forward?

I certainly hope you did not withhold the information you were resourceful enough to find on the forums or in the Wiki.
