Q:
One of the best aspects of Guild Wars 2 is being able to show off the beautifully designed weapons you have earnt been deigned worthy of by the great RNG god of the virtualnet. It is thus a shame when one discovers that said items SHRINK! shocking gasp when they are stowed!
As you can see from this image, Asuras have a most accute version of this problem.

Please amend them when possible, since the current state of affairs is … mildly disconcerting.
Please hejkp! Earn the eternal a couple of days respect of an entire race!
Or just tell me it’s on a list. Or just ignore this post and let it float away into the ocean of pages and pages of unanswered cries for assistance…

They’re not shrinking when they are stowed. They are growing when they are equipped.
Anet did this because a huge weapon on an Asuran back would clip right into the ground (many still do) . And they grow on equip so everyone can see them better.
EDIT: I just looked at your pic, your version actually looks better But I don’t think the problem is with staves, but the other weapons like greatsword.

This happens with staves on my asura elementalist. It doesn’t really bother me. It seems likely that this is by design for the reasons Darx mentioned.

The weapons certainly seem to be shrinking when stowed. They are too-realistically tiny!
The point at which the item is positioned (anchored?) on the back of the character, could be moved, couldn’t it?
i agree … especially Hammers look like their Shaft would break at the first time you hit an enemy with the hammer….
just looks stupid on every asura
The problem occurs in many games with different races. On one hand you want to make items look realistic on every character and really oompfy, on the other hand you dont want too much of clipping. I don’t believe this a real bug, but more a technical sideeffect caused by having several races that differ greatly in size.
As for the anchoring point, that would be more a suggestion.
Bottom line is, if you want to show off your weapons to others, make a char or a norn. They form a much bigger display. If you want to be cute and adorable, then make an asura
(Keep in mind being a norn or specially a char is a big dissadvantage when doing jumping puzzles and vista’s, so size doesnt always matter)
