Simin, High Priestess of Dwayna
Were you in my party just now!? We spent over an hour trying to kill this boss only for her to cloak and heal as soon as she hit 50%, even when we had the sparks in quickly. I thought the cloaking was supposed to be on a timer, but even when the cycle of cloak=>sparks=>DPS was under 20 seconds, she just cloaked again (yes, I timed it).
At least now I know that this is a bug and that we don’t all just suck. Still, pretty lame. This is the last path I need for the dungeon mastery achievement, so I feel really, really let down by this, especially for such a long path.
Wanted to come back and report that it may have been a speed issue.
I just went with a group who did the spark part a lot quicker and we were able to chip Simin down bit by bit from there. It may have been coincidental that she always reached 50% and warped out. In the successful group she warped out very quickly at times but quicker spark runs led to damage sessions going under 50%.
Not asking for a nerf I guess… but perhaps a bit more clarity or variance. (Like maybe some way to disrupt or extend the duration Simin is vulnerable.) Kite + DPS racing against a regenerating boss is… tedious after doing that whole path.
It’s intended and it’s the only boss in the whole game I really like, thanks to this. All you have to do is to place sparks on the spots QUICKLY, so basically 3 players have to know what to do, they have to execute this part correctly without any mistakes. If it’s done correctly, she won’t have enought time to regen to the point, where she can hide exactly in the same percent of HP. I can’t tell you exact numbers, but just for example:
You take her to 50% and she disappears, then you don’t place sparks before she regen to 70%, so when she appears, you can only take let’s say 20% of her HP at once and she disappears. If you put the sparks on place until she gets 55% of HP, then you can again take let’s say 20%, you can down her to 35% HP and she disappears. Then you can put the sparks before she gets to 40% and you can again DPS her to 20% before she hides.
It is possible to place sparks really fast if you have 3 players who are doing this. The rest of the party should then hug the wall to avoid aggroing sparks. One player takes 2 sparks that are close to the wall, another takes 2 sparks in the room’s entrance and last player takes one spark that appears between the wall and rock close to the entrance. We use 2 ranged players to take wall and entrance sparks, who can avoid being stoned easily by standing out of range, to make sure they can take these sparks as fast as possible. The rest stays melee close to the wall on the right and uses tears when one of them becomes stoned. One of the melee players takes the rock spark when the rest stays close to the wall. It is possible to execute this part in like 10 seconds. I did this path few times already, with different parties. So far the best result was killing her within 3 rounds, 100-50 + 55-25 + 30-0. I know that it can be done even faster, in 2 rounds if you have really strong DPS.
As I said, it’s not a bug but your lack of practice and maybe flawed tactics. Also it is best to do it with all players on some VoIP.

Yeah. Personally it was my first time doing the boss when we had the trouble. The 2nd group did much better and we saw the progress under 50% after 3-4 attempts at sparks / figuring out who had what.
My angle was that it would be nice if the NPC could notice if a party was too slow on the sparks and throw out a “We need to gather the sparks more quickly” or something simple that gives the players a nudge in the right direction. Not so much as a hand holder or nerf but simply a tidbit of information to represent “Hey, you need to do better if you want to beat this boss, it’s not a glitch”
I haven’t too much trouble figuring out bosses but something like a little NPC comment here or there could be helpful to groups having trouble. (and make the NPC somewhat useful to have)

I actually wouldn’t mind seeing a nerf to Simin. Only Path 4 I ever attempted got stuck here, trying to bring her below 50% for over an hour before half of us (including me) left either in disgust or thinking that there must be a bug.
…and this wasn’t some newbie group either, we beat all the other bosses -including Melandru and Lupi- on our first or second attempt with almost no problems, but Simin stopped us dead without ever coming close to actually killing us.
