Sliding more dangerous than a fall
It’s something that has been pointed out since the beta, as for the ridicule situation of walking down a slope normally and stopping DEAD on the bottom, but Arenanet has flagranty ignored us.
Maybe we should convince them to introduce a parachute in the gemstore for modic 600, to avoid getting killed in such stupid manners…

On a serious note, this particular bug is annoying, but avoidable. Hopefully ANet will fix it soon, but in the meantime, you’ll eventually start to recognize the slopes that you should just jump to avoid taking ridiculous damage from the bug.
It does create multiple impacts – something you can see very clearly when you have a ‘does x when you take falling damage’ trait, to occasionally hilarious results.
I’m not sure we should hold out much hope of it changing though. Poorly simulated physics seems like the sort of thing that gets fixed between games, when they’re writing a new engine…
