Yesterday, when equipping the accessory having the poly luminescent gem, my character turned black, which works fine. Today, I reequipped it again, but my character doesn’t turn black. I tried equipping it on different characters, but it also didn’t work.

You might have some sort of cache/database issue with your game’s installation. There are a couple of different ways to troubleshoot, but it’s usually easier just to clear the cache and repair the database.

• Instructions to delete the cache (you can ignore the rest of the post)
• Instructions for creating a shortcut (again, ignore all but the 3rd paragraph and replace the word windowed with repair — to get
  • " C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe" –repair

The first step takes less than a minute; the second takes anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes, depending on your hard drive.

If neither helps, create a support ticket and start working with ANet’s tech team and then reply back to get some further suggestions.

you were not inside Heart of the Mists or any other PvP zone while reequipping it though right?
Because the effects of those orbs does not show in PvP areas

Thanks for the help! Yes, I was out of any PvP zones. I cleared my cache but it didn’t work. I did the repair and it solved it!
