Someone keeps summoning merc on top G N Pod
It might not be intentional. The Item & Heroic Boosters both “[summon] a Black Lion Merchant If Your Inventory Is Full after Gathering (20-Minute Cooldown)”
It seems fairly common that people have full inventories when visiting the pod, since many save up Greater Nightmare Keys, so they only have to navigate the maze once.
There are other ways to prevent or resolve the issue, besides disabling (which would cause other ones). The main one would be to change the priority order for “interact” (default key: [f]), so that summoned NPCs are always last, after chests, doors, or other types of nodes.
In the mean time, you can designate a key for ‘next ally’ — if you keep pressing it, it will cycle through all the interactables near you (alas, including NPCs). I use it whenever I can’t click on a node.

As long that makes sense, it also can be intentional yes. I have seen players doing stuff like that just for the lulz.

That could be a way, either preventing it from spawning at that area at all or changing the priority when overlapped (or even a menu/popup to choose what to interact with). I’m not sure about the hotkey though, if I recall right “Next Ally”, or even “Nearest Ally” never targeted interactable objects for me, in fact, it doesn’t even target other players (that could be allies in PvE eh?).
Sure, some people do it intentional. Again, it’s very likely at the GN chest because people tend to try to open a lot and run out of room.
And I don’t know why you’re having trouble with “next ally” (not ‘nearest’) — it works fine for me on just about everything. I’ll test it on the GN chest the next time I have a key.
(It is a bit wonky, since its definition of “ally” or “next” don’t match mine.)

In fact, I made a little mistake since it has been a while since I used it. It does target interactable objects indeed, I remember when hunting chests at Dry Top long time ago I used that hotkey for that. However, as I said before, it doesn’t target ally players though. I would guess it should so since other players are allies in most of the contents.
Sometimes an ally isn’t an “ally,” just as many things that look, sound, and function like a projectile aren’t affected by “projectile”-specific blocks or reflection. It annoys me until I remember that RL is sometimes like that, too — grammar rules of thumb are true (unless they’re not).
@Shadow: let us know if target-next-ally helps with the GNP — my memory is that it does, but it’s been a while since I spent enough time in SW to have more than a few keys.

I was in Tarir and this is what happens (check image). If that was not intentional, then the game should prevent idiots from unintentinally doing stupid things.
Oh sure, those are intentional. But they should have lower priority now and interfere less often with anyone trying to open chests. The “next ally” trick definitely works on those ‘nodes’.
I’m definitely not in favor of trolls dropping crud on nodes. All the same, it’s not a dire issue; it’s just annoying. They do it to get a rise out of us & I think it’s sad for them more than it’s a problem for us.
I remember back in the hay day of AB meta when this was brought up and dev responded by saying it wasn’t that big an issue. Now since the AB nurf all the trolls are ‘back out in the world’ if you will and do all the other metas again. I’d say maybe 50% of all world bosses and map metas I have done since the AB nurf I’ll see the chests trolled with a merchant, or TP’s, bobble heads, AV boxes, food, etc…. Really not sure how this isn’t a big enough issue for anet not to do something. It’s only gotten worst since AB and back then I thought it was bad.
Normally the click to target first works, but I’ve found a few times I can’t find a spot, I’ll stand then inside the chest and go first person and slowly turn while looking around, always have found a spot that way where I can click on the chest to loot or even just get the prompt by it’s self. But having to go to such lengths to loot a chest after a meta is just sad, really hope something is done.
Every time it happens anywhere in the game it is done intentionally. Simple as that. It’s a pain and can be dealt with. Anet could tweak a few things though to eliminate the problem.
