This happens sometimes and I have no idea why, but an example from yesterday:

imbued grawl shaman fotm fight. The grubs spawned and I got downed. I chose a target that had about 50% health. I hit it 3 times with my downed #1 skill and when it died, I remained down. I tried finding another target but got killed before I could kill it.

There have been other times where this happens with enemies I had been attacking while up, and I think “it’s okay once they die I’ll rally” and it doesn’t happen.

As far as I can tell that happens whenever the enemy gives no exp and any enemy that respawns infinitely will give no exp and no loot. The grubs in this cause would be one of those things. It also makes it impossible to rebuild your stacks if you are using a stacking sigil.

Did TA story the other day and one of the bosses’ infinite spiders also have the issue.

You can rally from the grubs though.
