Seems like some of the NPCs in Wayfarer Foothills are non responsive.

In particular the Sons of Svanir who had pre-defined animations (sitting, lying down, etc.)

Do NOT attack back at first, in fact, they back pedal away from you with no combat at all, then start fighting a few seconds later.

I have never even seen a non-player backpedal before, it seems to be completely new tech/AI behavior.

Perhaps to be utilized in new AI function to move out of AoE or dodge attacks?! (that would be fantastic)

I will provide video proof if it is needed, easy to replicate though. But if asked, I shall make a quick clip.

Can confirm this, I encountered it several times doing map completion in Frostgorge Sound. Every now and then a Svanir (usually the ones wielding axes) would start to backpedal, sometimes straight into a wall or to the edge of a drop off. Server is Gate of Madness.

EDIT: Wait, yeah, now that you mention it, it only seemed to happen when an AoE circle was dropped (friendly or otherwise). Totally going to try and re-create this.

I’ve found that if I try to line-of-sight pull a Svanir, they start walking around all confused, moonwalk a bit, and … don’t come after me.

So it seems to be directly related to Sons of Svanir it seems, I didnt get the same response from Separatists in Deissa….maybe i’ll try a few more, where is a decent place to find sitting/sleeping bandits etc.?

It’s not just sitting or sleeping Svanir, it happened during the Corrupted Ice Shaman event chain in Frostgorge Sound in the middle of combat a few times. And every time it occurred after that was with the nearby Svanir, all standing at at the ready.

EDIT: All attempts to recreate this so far didn’t work out. I used AoE, blinds, everything I did previously when it happened. None of the Svanir will back away like they did previously.

All the Svanir I’ve encountered while leveling my latest character act like this (and only Sons of Svanir specifically, the Icebrood among them still act normally). They also dodge out of AOEs (which is really, really annoying if you’re a necro using wells, which this character is).
