I already submitted a ticket, but I’m posting here in case this happened to someone else. I transferred a whole set of soul-bound exotic armor, trinkets, and a greatsword to my bank. When I went back to the bank, they were gone. The items were soul-bound, so there’s no way they could end up on another character or someone else’s account. There’s no way I could have accidentally salvaged 13 exotic items in a few seconds because of the extra prompt.

I tried moving things to the empty slots in the bank, on the character’s bags, switching characters, reloading the program, but none of these helped. All of my bags are visible – none were compacted. Most of the armor was from the level 80 boost.

Off hand, I can think of one thing that might cause this behavior and one other way to try to locate your gear.

To locate gear, use GW2 Efficiency You’ll need to use a secure API key from the ‘account’ page of this site (requires a second login, for security) and you’ll be able to search across your account. Sometimes I can’t find stuff that’s right under my nose and GW2/E helps me locate it quickly.

There is one situation in which your gear will disappear: if you use the insta-L80 boost we got for free and end up not staying with that one toon or deciding to apply the boost to another. That restores all your old stuff and removes all the soul-bound soldier’s gear from your account. I don’t know if that applies in your case.

Thanks for the reply. I did try GW2 Efficiency (great site, BTW!). No luck finding my missing gear.

I decided to keep the level 80 boosted character nearly 2 months ago, so I don’t think that’s it. He’s also been outside of the Silverwastes and was parked in one of the new maps before I went to the bank in HotM. However, I think all of the missing gear was originally from the boost, including the greatsword.

I was doing an armor swap before the daily dungeon. Thank goodness I didn’t lose the set of ascended armor I swapped into!

There is a bug where the L80 Boost gear, if placed in the bank, will disappear.

I had thought this was addressed by the Devs, but the announcement might have been: “We are aware of the issue, are working on it, and in the meantime, don’t put L80 Boost gear in the bank.” I know for sure the Devs said don’t put the gear in the bank until fixed. I just thought they had fixed it, but this is the second or third time this has been posted about since said announcement.

One could probably find the Dev post using Google. I’m sure the CS Team will replace the missing gear.
