Q:
Spinning toon.
It takes a few days to get a response from CS, other than the automated ‘We received your request’ email.
Today, my character was stuck spinning after Diving using Diving Goggles, but when I asked my Guildie to come look at me, he said he saw nothing untoward. Obviously, a client-side issue. Moving, or attacking, (I don’t remember which) took me out of the animation. I’ve never seen it before.
You might try a -repair of the client: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Good luck.
sadly it does not affect only characters, but deployed sieges in WvW. They will start randomly spinning for no apparent reason and become unusables.
No workaround known so far, hope they will find a way to fix this…
Inculpatus cedo,
How would I use that to repair the client? I really have no idea what might be wrong, so I have no idea how to begin using that to fix it.
The instructions are not too difficult. Here they are in other formats:
If you are using Windows:
Windows via shortcut
You can execute switches directly from your Guild Wars 2 shortcut:
Right click on your Guild Wars 2 shortcut and select ‘Properties’.
In the ‘Target Area’ field you will see the location of your Guild Wars 2 executable file:
…\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe
Write the desired command line arguments after the quote marks, each beginning with a space:
“…\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -perf -windowed
except instead of -perf and/or -windowed replace it with -repair.
Thus, it will look like this:
“(Your computer path here)…\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
Here are the instructions from the Guild Wars 2 Knowledge Base, as well: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client

Thank you! I wil give it a go tomorrow. I am utterly exhausted tonight.
Also, if you have maybe a different mouse lying around, try to play with that one for a while and look if you still have the problem. I remember at least that somebody had a problem like yours in another MMO and in the end it was a problem of the mouse or mouse-driver.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
So I have tried playing with a different mouse and repairing the client. Neither have done anything. The new mouse worked for about 15 minutes and then went right back to it.
I hope they EVENTUALLY get to my ticket, its been two weeks now. >.<
Hmm .. deleting you local.dat file sometimes helps against strange bugs. Also .. maybe try using different USB-Ports for you mouse.
