Specifically because channeled skills were fired while you were visible, and to make it stop doing so would require effort and additional stress on the server (albeit somewhat minor but it adds up) to not only create the system to work that way, along with a number of other questions, including more calls and whining that stealth is ‘OP’, all for no real gain.
In a way allowing channeled skills to hit someone in stealth isn’t balanced either, but it’s the method they went with long ago and it will remain so.
It’s not just about stress and balance, it also makes sense.
For example, if you’re visible when an arrow is fired at you, and stealthed when the arrow reaches you, the arrow is not going to pass harmlessly through you just because the person who fired it can no longer see you.

I agree about the arrow that’s in flight, but the arrows / bullets which follow after (channeled skills) should not remain locked on to you.
