Dear Anet. I would like to report a bug.

Today in ranked a player DC-ed several times during the match, once we lost we still lost a PIP. As far as I know players don’t lose PIPs when someone DCs.

End report.

It’s not as simple as one player DCs and everyone else immediately doesn’t lose a pip. It depends how long they DC for, and if they return. There’s a grace period of something like 1 minute (not sure exactly) before it counts as a desertion.

You’ll also still lose a pip if you’re in a party with the player that DCs, even if they are gone long enough to count as a desertion.

Wait so we still lose PIPs if someone DCs indefinitely? Well that’s just not fair.

I think you’ve misunderstood my post.

If a player on your team DCs briefly and returns, and you lose, you’ll still lose a pip.

If a player on your team but not in your party DCs for longer than the grace period (or never returns at all), and you lose, you shouldn’t lose a pip.

If a player on your team and also in your party DCs for longer than the grace period (or never returns at all), and you lose, you will still lose a pip.
