“Issue: it skipped me from story X to a L48 story quest!
Related to the above issue, if you were playing in a group to get past some of the stories blocked by bad character data, the only fix was to restore your character and advance you to Chapter 6.

Note: For the above issues, we’ve fixed the bug that causes them so they shouldn’t happen any more, but some characters might be bugged and have to reset by going to Lion’s Arch. Players who completed the battle for Fort Trinity pre-fix may experience some weirdness with it losing track of the story track they were on.
While this bug is fixed, we can’t retroactively set you on the correct quest steps, rewrite your journal, etc."

I’ve just experienced this bug on 9/5/12, so I don’t believe it’s fixed. Going to Lion’s Arch didn’t fix my problem either. Is there something I can do to get back to my story quest, or do I just have to deal with the skip and wait until L48 to continue where it’s dropped me?

Same thing just happened to me. Just joined the whispers only to be told to hand in my level 48 quest in sea of sorrows. At level 29.
As you seem to be quite clear that you don’t want to fix my problem or roll back my character/quest, can you at least tell me what choices you’ve decided to make for my character so if I decide to continue levelling with my friend we can make those same decisions in his story quest and stay on the same path?

The same thing happened to me. And it happened yesterday. I logged a call with support (but haven’t heard anything back from them). I also posted a topic on the official forum about the same thing.

It’s not acceptable to just say you cannot do anything about this. Please respond to this Anet.

same happened to me.. sigh*
this is stupid, do they expect me 2 grind mobs and do the stupid heart quests until level 48?
Fixed they say, then they say, nothing we can do about it if it happens to u?
Here’s a fix, automatically give me the exp from the story quests each time i hit that level up until the level 48 quests. kthx

Yeah, I’m a little upset that I’m missing out on the rewards and experience for my story quests. I think it’s a little odd that they say there is nothing they can do about it.

We need a response, because this issue clearly hasn’t been fixed, and it’s not really acceptable to say there is nothing to be done.

Agreed. Furthermore, they haven’t answered ANY of the topics done on this matter, and this is the fourth i’ve seen in two days. This happened to me an my girlfriend and we stopped playing the game due to this aggravating issue. More aggravating than that, even, is the fact that we’re getting no word on this, no fix, nothing. If they truly can do nothing to fix the quest, they need to at least reward those affected with the rewards and experience they would get otherwise by completing the quests they missed on.

Do they seriously expect people to grind 18 levels, when one of the most advertised thing about this game is the no-grind factor? Huge disappointment to me, a day-one Anet fan.
