Been trying to do this event for 4 days. The event is at Broken Spit Waypoint in Straits of Devastation. Scholar Breandan is stuck.

Forgive me for bumping a nearly month old thread…but it’s only because I was going to post a thread saying the same thing.

Can we get an update as to whether this is being investigated/fixed on dev servers?
This is of course, like Ogre Wars and Dredge Commissar issues, another bug blocking Treasure Hunter progress. :/

I have tried a few things to get this event rolling and nothing works, when I actually got him attacked my enemies he just started swimming back and forth aimlessly after they died.

If this has been broken for a month and is that difficult to fix why don’t you just turn him into a merchant so people can get the achievement item.

Been bugged for me over the last few days I’ve been checking as well. I’m trying to get the Treasure Hunter achievement, and this is one of the few I have left. Any chance of a fix here? Thanks!!

I was finally able to find a server where he was not bugged by guesting and random success. But now, I am running into the same problem with Timberline falls event for Protect krewemaster Dobbs" event to unlock Rankor Ruins and Quinta merchant for Ancient stone summit shoulder spike treasure hunter item.

well i try it now for days and i cant understand, when this problem is known since months ago, why is not anything done, its not about the event, its just for the treasure hunt achievment to be able to buy the item at the end. We will see how much more months it will take to fix it.

Or Anet just don’t care about this kind of thing anymore?

Still broken. Come on devs! Just have him reset if he does not complete within an hour. Cant complete achievements if this guy is broken. Tried on various servers and they all have the same issue.

This is still broken along with the event in Timberline falls for Quinta.

This event continues to be bugged. I can only assume Arenanet does not care or think it is important as I have not found any response from them about this issue. I feel that this is utterly ridiculous due to the fact that it is an event that is a content gate. And this isn’t the only content gate event that continues to be bugged. Granted, people have been able to get lucky by doing random things to get it working. But one has to ask oneself, why is it that the player has to jump through hoops in the vane hope that the game should work properly. I have read all there is to read and tried all the player provided solutions but alas no progress. To this end, I for one will not be supporting this game through purchases in the gem store with real money until such time as things like this are fixed. What is the point of using real money in a game to support the game that in this instance inhibits me from completing a task. Congratulations to those who have been lucky enough to complete the event. I will continue to play, but will stop all forms of financial investment and probably not buy their hyped expansion. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Rant complete.

This is broken for me as well still, I don’t understand why anet doesn’t seem to think its important to fix major bugs that have been in their game since launch.

This is still bugged along with the “Timberline Falls event for Protect krewemaster Dobbs”. I have submitted a bug report in game.

Bumping a post about a bug over a year old? I shouldn’t have to do this. It’s still bugged.

I got it to work!!!!!!! I came over again as I had done 20 other times before to see if it was working. What I did was aggro a Risen Sea Turtle and brought him over to Scholar Breandan once he started to fight with me I drug the Turtle to sea floor and unbroke this event. Hope it works for others.

Still broken – I tried the sea turtle and it hasn’t made a change :-( I’ll try a few more times just in case.

This is still bugged, but I was able to unstuck him. Like Fulcrette said, agro a turtle and bring him to Breandan. When Breandam starts to fight lure the turtle back, this will take Breandan from his spot. He thanks you for the help and the event continous.

Still broken. I also don’t see it on the known issue tracker. Any way we can get an acknowledgement on this one?

Also, the turtle workaround is not foolproof. I’ve dragged a dozen turtles to him and he has swam all over killing them, but never does anything other than reset to same spot.

Edit: dragged yet another turtle to him, and didn’t help him kill it. I let them tap each other for like 30s and he finally flipped to “win” mode.
