When I have the game minimized I occasionally hear what can best be described as a gavel sound. Kind of sounds like a pop.

Usually sitting afk in the mists when I hear it.

I had my master sound turned completely off and was still getting this. I thought it was because I had my headphones plugged in to listen to itunes and would do that from the cord being bumped, but it happened yesterday with the game sound turned off and headphones not being plugged in. And it is sort of the sound of a pop.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that gets this. I thought it was just my headset since I just got a new one when the game came out and it’s a bit different than my old one. It happens when I’m tabbed out or sometimes when I’m playing. I’ve also turned my in game sounds off and it still happened. =\

It’s a popping noise most of the time but it occasionally is just a really loud noise. It’s a bit hard to describe because it’s not a full sound effect when it does the noise and not the pop, just a really loud piece of a sound effect I guess.
