Guild Wars 2

Hi,
I tried to update the Guild Wars 2 launcher, but i get stucked at 99% with 1 file remaining. I tried several solutions like changing the language or adding -assetsrv to the file location. Nothing worked so far. Please help me guys.

Getting this, too. My client is still loading that one last file, it’s getting way over 3gb now for that 1 last file alone.

Yesterday, I start open the game and download the patch. Everything work fine there are like around 5,000 files to download if I recalled.

Then the last 2 files take a really long time that usual… I wait for like… 4 hours because the screen said 99% so I wait. However it still keep downloading to the point that the download said 9+ GB that when I decide to go to sleep.

In the morning, I wake up and see that it stuck at 99% with no download file remain, and it is not downloading. So, I close the game and try to open again. Then it start by downloading that 2 remaining files again…

I’m not sure what is the cause of this, the download speed is fine and I just hope that I will be able to play game today when I go back home from work. : (

P.S. Three of my regular party friends also have the same issue also.

I’m at 96% with 1.5 Gb downloaded. The same thing happened yesterday and I finally gave up after two hours when I had to get some sleep. I’m trying again tonight but this is really frustrating.

I’m mostly avoiding the forums just so I don’t accidentally read a spoiler. Just how big is this freaking download???

same here. Right now after restarting pc and router like a 100 times. I’m stucked at 95% with 1 file remaining

Well this sucks. I’m sitting at 0% now with 1 file to download and it’s at 4.1 GB?? 0% at 4.1GB??? Can we get a dev or someone from Anet to say something? I have wasted a second night now waiting for this to download. I tried for 3 hours tonight. Very very irritated at this point.

I guess i try to reinstall the game now

edit: just reinstalled the game, now I’m stucked with 2 files remaining. I tried everything, don’t know what to do at this point.

I decided to reinstall it too, but use client file that download from website instead of using file from CD.If this doesn’t work i don’t know what else i can do anymore.

I tried the client from the website, but still the same problem.

Will Arenanet ever check this problem??? :’(

People can retry it so many times but we actually lost bunch of time,effort and electricity bills for this experiment to solve this issue.

Having the same problem…have tried all the tricks on Reddit, changed languages, etc.

Am I just done playing? Can they just let us download that last file and tell us where to put it?

Yeah another patch, and another day i will miss playing.

Hey guys, I have faced the same problem after searching for the solutions for a day and try it all (change languages, reinstall , close the firewall ,-arvst ,-repair , run as admin) and nothing can slove the problem

Finally I have found the clue that , it is your ISP problem is solution is
1. Change the ip the your ISP give you. For me, at first my IP is 17X.XXX….. (you can look for your ip at )

2.After that your can call your ISP to make change of your IP ,but for me I use OpenVPN to temporary change your IP

2.1 OpenVPN link :http://openvpn.net/index.php/download/community-downloads.html

2.2 Then install it and download the vpn file from this website : http://www.vpngate.net/en/

2.3 After you have choosen the file(for me I choose the South Korea one) put that file in config folder of OpenVPN

2.4 double click (Run as admin) OpenVPN it will try to connect and change your IP wait until the OpenVPN icon in task remain green and check with findmyip.org again weather your IP have been changed or not.

2.5 run guildwar2 launcher again to download the 1 remaining file.

2.6 Enjoy the game

@Nightingale, your way doesn’t work for me.And Kaspersky anti virus also report that its block network attack to my computer too after i use it.

So i don’t think it safe to use maybe?

Sorry to hear that.This method is very specific case because in my country many of this ISP’s users face the same problem with this patch and this solution solve thier problem perfectly. So I think maybe another ISP in another country will have troble with this patch too and this solution is can help them.

And about kaspersky report about network attack. I think it is usual thing becoz the program will try to make change of your IP so maybe kaspersky consider it is a network treats.

Anyway, the 99% problem can be occur by many of reason that why some solution work with only someone and some patch. And I think the one who know the best what is happening behind the scene of updating process is Areanet’s programmer team.

If you have try all solution and the problem still remain,maybe you should try to -log the data when luach the client and sent it to Areanet’s support so they can determine what is going on with your case (if they ever read the mail). Or you can try searching around gw2 social network group like facebook page of your country for more sprcific solution ( I’ve found the solution thus way too)

And the last and most effective solution is find someone(maybe your friend) who already patched succes fully and copy thier gw2.dat file to replace yours,. This will definitely solve the problem(at least this patch)

And for someone who don’t know. the last file size is less than 100 mb or around that.
If the client download go more than 150-200 mb or 500+ for sure then the problem still remain.

You don’t need to change your IP to just download this one file.. just silly. C’mon guys… that’s like saying you need to unplug your monitor from your GPU for it to download the last file.
