Stuck in terrain !!!!!
just stay logged in, it should kick you to a waypoint. Happend to my sister and it auto kicked her. Though a logout and back in should take care of it.
Use the /stuck command or [F12] and reselect the same character; either of those nearly always works (my mesmer used to get stuck all the time from Phase Retreat/Staff-2 and various other skills).

Weird idea, try to get another mesmer to make a portal near you, and see if you can use it to get out. Very weird that you would be so superglued that even a waypoint wouldn’t work.

he could have been stuck in combat that is possible sometimes
I had the same problem on my ele in personal story (Convincing the Faithful). Though I wasn’t visually stuck but just standing on a rocky surface. I could use all my abilities, but neither mouse nor keyboard was able to move my character a millimeter.
I finally had the idea to switch to fire on staff and use the ability 4 (burning retreat). That got me out of my misery.

I got stuck in a log recently. The camera was also stuck so I couldn’t see much. There was a mob aggroed on me also stuck in the log so I couldn’t even use a waypoint. This business of being locked in combat when a mob decides it can see you gets old fast. Anyway, just relogging solved the problem…nothing else worked…
