I changed stats on wurmslayer armors and sunless weapons in mystic forge, and then not only stats were changed but also the items were totally changed to normal ascended gears which match their changed stats.

I’m not sure if its intentional, but it so depresses me since I love the originality and the scripts on the items

It is intentional. Mystic forging always destroys items and creates completly new ones.

It’s intentional. You can transmute the old skins back onto them if you want the old look back.

The same thing happens to the ascended weapons from elite spec collections. Like Rose said, just transmute them.
