Superior Rune of Vampirism Bugged
Mist means you can’t use your weapons and you are invulnerable for 3s.
from what i know it is bugged.
i use weapon swap. and when the effect triggers (health < 10%)
i suddenly lose all skills.
BUT! im also NOT INVULNERABLE. i just get hit normal with any ranged, melee, aoe damage. at the moment the sixth stat of the rune is actually malignant to your gameplay.
you become a worthless character for 3 seconds when your health goes below 10%
Oh thats no good, I was going to use this rune. Bad news.
Guess I will save the 6th rune for last.
Sorry to derail but I’m curious. How much does the 4-rune bonus heal you for?

I discovered more issues with the Superior Rune of Vampirism. What was posted earlier is correct, you lose your skills for 3s but you are NOT invulnerable, in addition this rune creates havoc with mist form. During mist form it will lock you mist form skill bar twice, first in the few seconds of use and again when mist form hits 10%,. Also, the skill you were about to use when it locks is set to cool down, so basically this Rune is dangerious to use, particularly in pvp situations. So to sum up, a Necro using the sixth rune will experience three 3s times of not being able to use skills, while still being vulnerable.
As an Ele I had intended to use these runes to improve general squishiness. But.. the 2 set bonus works ok, about 5% of the time when hit you receive a buff which lets you life steal next hit. The 4 set does not seem to work at all, neither self heal skill nor healing weapon skills seem to trigger any life steal on next attack. As written above mist is totaly broken. First if you take damage that moves you from above 10% to 0% you’re down, as Ele this happens a lot. Should by some miracle you’re health remain between 0-10% you will enjoy 3s of being visable, attackable but unable to use any abilities.
Further: I played around with Omnomberry pie to add 66% life steal chance on crit, I use a lot of arcane skills which are 100% crit chance, never saw a single life steal triggered.
I would love to see these fixed as by the tool tip they could be nice to play with, also I would prefer to see mist form triggered even if you hit 0% from above 10%, and in a perfect world, for mist form in general to be considered a stealth thives can pull giant mobs and just get away why can’t a magic user have some simillar trick, I mean really why would a spider chase a little mist 50 meters away from where it was just fighting a human.
As title says, I’ve been playing a thief with 4 pieces of Superior Rune of Vampirism and it works fine in the Mists and in the first match I play. But after that, the Leeching icon just doesn’t appear after using my healing skill (I’m using Withdraw at the moment) and no HP is leeched at all from the first attack according to the combat logs.
Also, the behavior for the “next attack leeches life” effect itself seems a bit buggy.
For instance, when I use AoE skills such as cluster bomb and infiltrator’s arrow (which doesn’t even hit anything), the effect disappears but no life is leeched. I understand why you wouldn’t want the leech to proc on multiple targets for balance reasons, but shouldn’t the effect stay active until you use a single target skill in that case?
The leeching also doesn’t proc on Infiltrator’s Strike, which is a single target skill. This I found a bit strange. Probably something to do with the fact that it leaves an AoE marker on the ground where you can shadow return to. It really should count as a single target skill for this purpose though.
I really want to use Vampirism Runes in my build. But in it’s current state it’s way too quirky to consider.
Hello! I’ve farmed gold and karma to get a full set of exotic armor, 4 of the 6 armor already had previous runes on them and i merely replaced them with superior rune of vapirism. Upon doing this i was hoping to get the 6th ability “You become mist when your below 10 health (cooldown 60 sec)” After studying all the runes i figured this would be the best for what i do. Its never worked once and i’ve had it for about a week. Decided it was time to get fraps and record it not working so you fellas could fix it

Exactly same issue here. And the “Leech Life” effect seems heavily bugged too.
Instead of turning into mist it just removes all of my 1-5 skills for a couple of seconds. No animation or model change, just this. Used as warrior if it matters.
Agreed, also doesn’t seem as if the foe looses lock. I never recover with any hitpoints, I usually go directly to downed with my bar at 75% or so.

this Rune should be fixed, neither the healthsteal nor the Mistform works.. 90% of the time the Mistform doesnt proc and the healthsteal appears, but never heals.

The mist form at 10% is in such a broken state that it makes you MORE likely to die when it goes off (if it goes off at all).
What it is currently doing is taking away all weapon abilities and not doing anything else. I expected it to be like the elementalist mist form?
I also know there are multiple rune bugs out there currently that need to be fixed. The longer these runes go on broken the harder it is to see what runes are best fit for playstyle.
How is it different? I haven’t used the Rune’s version but have used the latter hundreds of times in PvE and PVP.
You lose all weapon abilities in the elemental mist form, and if you use your heal or arcane skills it takes you out also which seems comparable?
Also, if you are poisoned, or burning, or taking some other ticking conditional damage, that proceeds, and you can even die while in mistform from conditions.
I have the same issue whit this rune of vampirism and its perfect for my build.Arena Net has to fix this as soon as possible.Its been bugged for long enough already .Its realy annoying getting on 10 % health and have all your skills dissapear and still be vulnerable.
It doesn’t work on ANY damage. It requires you get to <10% health and then you still take normal damage from everything. Its completely broken. Also it doesn’t even proc all the time. There have been many times I get hit to 500 health or so and it doesn’t go off.
I’ve tested it many many times against singular mobs.
Any ETA on when this rune set will be fixed to do anything other than give power? Currently none of the proc life steals or mist form work correctly. I would like to use this set, but wouldn’t mind replacing it for the time being if I could be given back the runes somehow for later use.
This rune should really be fixed, both for defensive builds and offensive builds this is an rune that could be quite strong.
except for the power it gives nothing atm, which is really sad.

This really puzzled me, so I did a little investigating. My skill bar kept on disappearing whenever my health got low so I got screwed over in PvP, and I didn’t understand why! It turns out that the sixth effect of the vampirism rune is bugged: instead of turning you into mist, you lose your skills
Hope it gets fixed soon because it would be a really nice rune otherwise!
Wearing all 6 vampirisim rune will cause the #6 rune bonus to trigger while going into death shroud.
It locks out all death shroud skills
I also have a bug with the set bonus from the Vamirism rune in sPvP.
When it triggers (below10%) I do not turn to mist or go invulnerable, instead I lose all my weapon skills and continue to take damage as usual.
I can still dodge and use utility skills, but as I said during the duration of the “buff” I can’t use any weapon skills, as if the only thing about the mistform working is the “unable to attack” part.

This bug has affected both my character and a guildmate’s character, so I can confirm that at least it is not just me experiencing this.
The Superior Rune of the Vampire’s final trait is “You become mist when you fall below 10% health”. An exceptional concept, but instead the bane of my existence =D
When you fall below 10% health, something does indeed happen. Our entire skill bars are wiped clean of all skills, and instead of turning into an invulnerable mist we remain in human form very much capable of taking damage. The result? The rune’s main trait acts like a condition that strips us of all ability to fight back for 2-3 seconds, while leaving us open targets for the enemy. It’s not pretty 0_o
For now I can work around it by changing 1 rune on my armor, so I get 5/6 for that rune. But it would definitely be appreciated if this could be looked into. If you can’t replicate the problem, I’d love to work with someone to figure out why it is only happening to us two. Otherwise, if you can, I hope it makes it into the November 15th patch =D

Added pictures. Notice that in the first picture I am in “mist form”. I’ve lost all my skills on my weapon bar. Then, notice in the second picture I have been hit again and I am transitioning into downed state… but as you can see my weapon bar is still empty, so I was in mist form! I shouldn’t have taken any damage, right?

Are you both engineers? My first thought when looking at it is that it might be a kit related bug.
We are indeed both engineers, but I am not running kits. 100% elixir build.
The 6 piece bonus never triggered correctly on my necromancer. The 2 and 4 set bonuses seem to work correctly, and are pretty good at ~900 life leeched per proc.
However, when in Death Shroud any damage taken from enemies will cause the bugged 6 piece bonus to proc and lock me out of all abilities for 3 seconds, while being completely attackable. This also interrupts any skills currently casting, and will put them on cooldown – e.g. Life Transfer. Currently all the 6 piece bonus does is daze yourself for 3 seconds, extremely annoying.
I am a recent 80 and did not know this rune set was broken until today. I’ve tested this myself and have found that it is still broken…

This Rune set is still not working properly.
While the 6-piece bonus does actually proc occasionally now including the corresponding visual effect (Mistform) it doesn’t do so reliably.
I’d wager that the effect procs maybe 10% of the time.
Instead however it occasionally procs in downed state, when you reach 10% health there.
This is bollux. Please fix this thing already. It’s well overdue.
Dee Jay, I think you’re mistaken. The rune will not activate if you go from 11% hp to nothing in a single attack, as you have not passed 10%. The rune acts as a catch that stops smaller attacks and degen from killing you, but it won’t save you from a giant spike of damage from a single attack.

Even so, I’m still not convinced it’s working properly.
I am still reluctant to try those runes on my necromancer since I did not read anything about the Death Shroud issue being resolved yet. Getting your abilities locked for a couple of seconds after getting hit in DS is not exactly helpful. ^^
I’ve been using this rune for about a week now and I can confirm it works… most of the time.
There are still moments where I know I fall within the 10% hp threshold and nothing happens. I’m dead sure it was within its CD as well. (similar to the weapon swap sigil sometimes not working)
A quick re-equipping of my armor set usually fixes the problem.
Works fairly well during WvW.
Are these still bugged? Would like to use a set for my Necromancer but am worried about the DS bug.
Any news on these runes? I have a full set of armor with all six pieces, and the issues are still affecting them. Has there been any attempt to fix them yet?

The results of some testing less than a month ago……
i was able to get it to activate, but sometimes it kicks in for less than a second before being downed; it seems as though conditions still tick through it despite being “invuln”. it just seems pretty buggy.

I tried this again with 11,832 health, it activated when I hit 548 health after being sub 10% health (1183~) for about 10 seconds. Is this still not fixed or is this working as intended as it doesn’t check your current hp very often? Any ideas? Pretty shocking if this still isn’t working after 7 months.
Edit: Tried this a second time and was above 5% hp for the time but as soon as i hit 458 hp ( below 5%) it activated. 548hp is also just below 5% hp….is it bugged and activates at 5% hp instead?
Edit 2: Tested a third time, only activated at 591hp which was 4.995% of my max hp…seems to be when you drop below 5% it activates.

I finally stumbled across a way to reliably reproduce the Vamp rune 4th piece glitch, where the Leeching on heal effect stops working completely until the player exits the map.
1. Wear at least 4 pieces of Vampirism Runes
2. Use your heal skill to get Leeching effect
3. Get yourself killed while the Leeching effect is on you
4. Respawn in the same map and use your healing skill again
Expected:
5. Healing skill should trigger 4th Vamp rune effect and grant Leeching
Actual:
5. All forms of Leeching stop being applied (including from Sigils of Leeching) until the user exits map
Notes:
-Dying with a Leeching effect from Sigil of Leeching while not wearing 4 pieces or more Vamp runes does not trigger this glitch

In hindsight it probably would have been a better idea to do this in the Mists…
I got mine today! I haven’t read the post so i was wondering.. I have become mist only one time and it was at 5% health even less. Also I was doing Jormag and when i got the debuff the mist never triggered! What is the meaning of having it if it works below 5% ? and can’t be triggered if you have a condition on you. I haven’t really tested the 4th rune’s effect but the 6th one’s is useless as it is now….

Got my runes of vampirism yesterday, ill add what happens to my thief with the rune equipped, which seems slightly different to the problems posted by others on this thread:
Firstly the rune four bonus does not work after I die unless I re-equip all my armour, The sixth effect thankfully does not give me a useless skill bar like what appears to have been happening to other people, but instead worked once, and never did anything again. Anyone know if there is a way to get the sixth bonus to work like there is with the fourth?
