TD Event Issue "Take the young beetles on...
I am not replying to state that this bug has been resolved.
Just wanted to make that clear. However I did find out what was causing the bug. The event “detects” a number of chak near the beetles, however it detects the chak in 3 dimensions. Since there are bridges in the cave where it takes place, the event can detect chak far above the floor of the cave where the event takes place. This should be fixed since the point of the event is for the beetles to kill the chak for “practice” and the event group will never go up any of the levels to get the beetles.
It is possible to advance the event by going up and killing the chak yourself, but it took me quite a long time to figure this out, and I only persisted because I was trying to complete a Legendary weapon.
That event bugs out in like 95% of cases and it has been like that since HoT release. You can try to kill the surrounding chak and potentially find the one that counts towards the event counter however in most cases the event is simply going to get stuck at one missing chak and no progression will be possible. I’ve done the event countless times, tried everything imaginable to “unbug” it, since a lot of collections require the boss from the last event chain step, however nothing helped. Though I’ve noticed a recurring pattern with HoT events is that if people rush in front of the NPC they follow to kill the mobs there is a much higher probability that events are going to bug out. Ask the people that follow the NPC to stay behind him and hope it helps.

Yes, the event should not bug if people rush ahead and kill the chak that the beetles are supposed to kill. There’s no way anyone can reason with people who like to zerg.
This event bugged again last night. This time, even though I was able to complete the event the last time I did it by running around above the Beetle Herder killing chak, it didn’t work on this event. Me and about 7 other people ran around killing every chak in the area above, around, etc. and the event was still stuck at “chak left: 1” for about a half hour before I left.
Event still bugged. The event stucks at “1 chak left”. I too killed any chak in the area I could find but nothing helps. This is the second or third time this happens to me. I haven’t been able to finish the Outpost: Teku Nuhoch event chain because of this and I haven’t been able to Defeat Potoni because of this. Could somebody from Anet maybe fix this?
This is going to be an issue for those like me that just want to do the whole chain for a Mastery point. I think I finished that portion of the chain though, and we managed to un-bug it when I did it.

It is actually not a case of detecting the ones above. The problem is that the event is spawning those mobs on the floors above. This error in the way the game spawns event mobs is much more clearly seen when it happens with https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Stop_sun_zealots_from_indoctrinating_the_Itzel and it spawns the mobs on the area where you fight Mayatl which is normally empty.
There’s a work around for this but it requires everyone NOT to kill chaks until the guy sets up his stuff and releases his beetles.
