My wife sold a Badge of Tribute on the TP tonight quick sell to the highest bidder for 23s28c. What she got back was was 45c! total http://i.imgur.com/2gs40hN.jpg . How is it possible that this item sold for 45 copper when the LOWEST it has ever been valued at is 16 silver?

If anyone has any idea why this happens (not the first time) please let me know so we can prevent it from happening again.

It happens rarely when your computer is slow to refresh the TP due to latency. Submit any examples you have to support, including screenshots where possible + time/day so they can investigate. Often (but not always), they’ll be able to “make you whole.”

To prevent it from happening again, don’t be hasty in using quick sell — if the interface is sluggish, wait. Or alternatively, ask for “a little more” than the insta-sell price, i.e. set your own price that’s really close — I’ve yet to hear of anyone encountering an issue doing this and you’ll sell nearly as quickly.

On some things insta sell is our preferred method of selling an item. Regardless of whether or not it’s the “recommended” method of selling based on others players’ opinions it exists and in this case it sure sounds as if it’s bugged. Especially if I have to watch and verify every transaction.

It’s a rare bug — like you, tons of people use the insta-sell method of disposing of goods and it doesn’t happen to everyone nor every time.

I’m not saying it doesn’t exist; I’m saying instead of just waiting for ANet to identify the root cause, propose and test a fix, and implement it, you have the option of taking a little more time to avoid the issue.

Regardless, if it happens, start a ticket and ask support if they can help out. Make it easy for them to do so by providing them with details and/or supporting info so they can find the specific transaction. I know they have helped others in similar situations; I don’t know if they can do it every time.

Also, taking a bit more time selling is a lot shorter than waiting your ticket to make it through the queue to the CS Team.

Of course, it’s always player’s choice.
