I’ve killed at least 150 grawl near the Tail of the Star God point of interest in Blazeridge Steppes, and still haven’t received it. Am I just extremely unlucky or is this item bugged? I’ve killed a lot less creatures getting the items from collections before, so this is just really odd (and ridiculous).

Also apparently ‘Sheets of Aurillium’ is bugged

You must be really unlucky, I got it off like my 4-5th grawl. Make sure you are killing the ones right next to the crystal if you aren’t that may be your problem, other than that I have no idea. GL!

Also bugged sheets of aurillium is dumb and getting really old really fast.

I bet Anet divided the droprate by 10 somewhere by mistake. Droprate is really low compared to all the other collection items…

I’ve killed about 100 today and no drop yet… I’ve been killing the grawl immediately around the poi and inside the cave not far off from it…. I’ve done the event countless times… sad day.

I went through a whole jerk around with support, after putting in a ticket. They informed me (after, mind you, telling me all kinds of kitten like ‘repair your game’) that I just have to keep killing them as it is a ‘random drop and may take 350+’.

A bunch of bull, in my opinion. No other ‘kill mob to get drop’ works this way. I crafted Nevermore without a single ‘oh no, you have to farm a super specific area for hours’.

Congrats Anet on your ‘non-farming’ game.

[eta] Incidentally, the way the email is phrased suggests to me that the person emailing me knows absolutely nothing about what he’s talking about, since he says ‘it appears others get it in three kills, and others 350+’. Which means he’s GOOGLING THE ANSWER.

So is this dropping for anyone at all these days? I’ve had two 2-hour sessions as well as being 40 min into my third, and this piece of **** has not dropped. 29 (!!!) Grawl Paws, still not a freaking drop. Who in the holy name of hell designed this complete disgrace of a collection requirement? Someone should get smacked around hard for this. Fix it!

Going to add a plus one to this drop taking forever to acquire… i’ve decimated more grawl than grawl deserve – they just want to worship some pink rock…. I just want my fragment!

Yeah same, got mine after more than 1 hour of killing Grawl in the area.

RNG is random.

The problem is: if the drop rate is high, then it feels as if it might as well be 100% chance from your first kill. And if it’s low enough to feel like it requires some effort to get it, then some people will have super bad luck and have to kill 100s.

There’s not really a good happy medium.

I don’t mean to necro-post, but since I found this thread about a year later due to the same issue, I figured I’d post something helpful:

I got my shard in the first 50 or so grawl, BUT, do it on a character that HASN’T been to the area yet. This is why:

If you haven’t completed the area, do the gold heart for killing the grawl there while in crow form. What I did was go into crow form, and just kept farming the grawl. It was far easier and less painful, and even after the heart was completed, I just stayed in crow form farming. I got the shard shortly after completing the heart (I had farmed without doing the gold heart for a while before then).
