I completed Sparkfly fen in the middle of a bunch of angry mobs, so I jumped to The Mists to get to lion’s arch. While I was there I accepted my map rewards and continued on to Lion’s arch. Once I got there, I compared notes with my friend (we are leveling up together so we watch our xp pretty carefully) and found out that I was short a great deal of xp.

Turns out I got the items from the map completion, but not the experience. This was 13,600 experience.

Is there anyway this can be rectified? I’m disgusted that something so simple could happen.

Its might be because when you go to the mists you are boosted to 80 and I don’t think map exploration gives experience at 80. I could be wrong.

It still gives xp at 80. You still level up after you hit 80.

There is no exp bar in the mist. Unlike WvW you are not boosted to 80 but granted perment 80 lvl. Skills, traits and equip and propably exp are handled separately.
Don’t remember if discovering Poi in Mist granted you exp or not, but i think not.

And experience was taken from you, because of cowardly running away. It’s your fault.

13 600 Exp is not that much anyway.

13,600 isn’t that much, but there’s no reason for it to have happened. And I didn’t run away because I was afraid of dying, I went to the mists because I wanted to get back to Lion’s arch and that’s the quickest/cheapest way back, and because after completing the map, I was sick of it.

If I go back to regular killing, it might take about 30 minutes to make that much xp. Why would I want to have to play for 30 minutes extra just to get to where I should be in the first place?

No no. You char in the mist received that exp. But all statistic in the mist are separated from these from PvE and WvW for fairness sake. But since there is no exp in the mist you received 0. And allowing gaining exp in mist from PvE could open a way for possible exploits.

If you accepted it before going or when you got in Lion Arch or travelled by WvW there would be no problem.
