Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.
– Unknown Fire Elementalist
In Borlis Pass, not long into the Tequatl event, she freezes in a rigid “airplane” pose, and water splashes up all around underneath her and the bone wall.
This probably only happens when nobody is there confronting her, which is pretty much always on Borlis Pass. (When a tree falls in the woods, and nobody is around to hear, does it make a sound?)
Take your time. She’s been doing this over at least one update, and nobody else seems to have noticed.
Fascinating… it appears to be some kind of rigid modelling pose. I’ve seen my character (and others) do this with feet together and arms out 45° each, body upright, but it never locks in place, and frees itself in no time.
To me it’s a game glitch but character-wise it’s never been anything permanent from what I’ve seen. Teq, on the other hand, appears to be a different matter. What’s more fascinating about it is that an update, and much less just a server reset, doesn’t appear to have fixed it.
I’m guessing that with no external input impacting her, the program “times out” so to speak. They never expected nothing to interact with her, and with no variables making her respond she reaches a “holding pattern” state before long. Totally unscientific and unknowledgeable of higher programming on my part. But it may not be an error. Just a lack of input leading to the premature “end” of her programmed movements.
Actually what I was thinking of was quite the opposite. Most times I’ve found characters spawn into an area with the frozen model pose, rather than timing out after a long time. The same would happen with Teq, is my guess; particularly as there’s nothing to interact with it at a given time, ie. it has no targets or is a mis-spawn, etc. I’ve actually seen the Shatterer do this once or twice, albeit briefly, but because it has targets and an environment within which to play out it’s sequences, it frees itself up.
Anyhooo, something strange is afoot.
I love the new mechanics. I guested on one of the “winning” servers to kill her once. I don’t want to abuse their hospitality by taking up a spot that could be filled by one of their homeworld players, so I haven’t been back. But if ANet would do something so that ALL servers could beat her, you bet I’d visit her every day for a shot at another Ascended weapon! As it stands now, I guess the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.
