The Queen's Gauntlet is Lagged by Zerg

Also doesn’t help that there is a ton of terrain below the arenas that you do not care about while fighting bosses. This only adds to the lag.
^Shameless bump because it needs one
Just one reply in a day. It’s not looking hopeful.

That’s really annoying.
+1000 to this post. It is getting really annoying especially when you need to watch and respond to champions’ attacks properly.
Totally, 100% agree.
The entire Pavilion is seriously annoying. I can BARELY participate in the zerging or the gauntlet (I can’t even get past Hammerfell. You’re supposed to avoid his windup attacks but I get knocked down regardless even when I’m ACROSS the arena from him) I thought Anet learned something from the karka in Lions Arch disaster? I usually have no problems fighting w/ big groups in WvW etc, but this is just not fair.

Why would you not instance this???

Bumping again. I noticed I don’t get so much lag when I run to the outer wall of the pavilion, but as soon as you climb the ramp to the boss cages you get a good view of everything in the surrounding area and it eats up fps. A better idea would to have boss pits where you didn’t have to rez much that you couldn’t see.. Still after a year we have no draw distance setting. So we’re forced to render nearly everything in the entire zone making the gauntlet near impossible for anyone who doesn’t have a high end computer.
There are still plenty of bugs with much of this content, but it seems priorities lie in shoveling out more temporary content instead of actually making it playable.
Dunno if this is strictly speaking a bug, more like poor implementation, but I agree it’s really frustrating for me playing on a laptop as I can dip below 20 fps which makes liadri much, much more difficult.
I can only recommend guesting on to low pop servers and turning down render distance to the lowest setting. Unfortunately like most problems in living story events that don’t have any easy fix I don’t think anything will be done about it. Hopefully in the future they will keep challenging small group/solo pve content separate from the zergfest areas.
You can turn everything down and still you’ll see objects and mobs on the far side of the arena. The worst place for a challenging 1v1 fight is over a cluttered landscape that you have no choice but to see that only gets worse when the zerg is nearby. It’s a nice idea but poorly executed simply because gw2 lacks a key feature that most every other game has.
One can only guess none of the testing is done on mid range PC’s even with a high end graphics card. They should opt to change the minimum system requirements to a higher recommendation so it’s less frustrating to the majority of players who want to participate in events but are handicapped by the lack of simple game game features.
I rarely have problems I can’t work around but having a new zone cluttered with objects brings lag if you have a view of the entire thing. You get even more when you encourage tons of people to be in the same area at the same time. And with a mass zerg, even with effects off and the pve culling making most of them invisible, you still get even more lag by people you can’t even see. Someone should have thought about putting all of these things in the same place with gw2 in it’s current state. Most other games can get away with this because they can render hundreds of things on screen at once without a problem. GW2 can’t, that’s why culling has always been a problem. Honestly it is a bad idea to build an event around one of the games biggest flaws.
We can only hope the ‘end to pve culling patch’ makes things better, but if it just forces you to render more things and eats more fps, it could be the final nail in the coffin for those barely getting by in events like this.
Since this morning, we have some massive lags/disconnects on Augury Rock [FR].
I noticed this, this morning, during a Gauntlet fight. But this evening, it also happened in Orr. The game lag for 5-10s (nothing moves) and the it resumes. But it happened twice to be kicked with an error message. Other people in the group were kicked aswell.
Timeframe this evening was between 18:30 and 19:15.
