I started with the story line quest, “the ringmaster” my quest log tellls me i need to read my mail because I have a summons. There is however nothing in my mail. nor can i trigger an npc event where the quest marker informs me to go.
What level are you? I believe the issue is that the next story step unlocks at L30, so the mail isn’t sent until then. (There’s a rare bug where the “Read your mail” step sometimes appears at lower levels.) If you’re L30 or higher, your mailbox probably has too much mail in it, and it’s preventing new mail from appearing. Clear out your inbox, and log out/in to resend the mail.
I can 2nd this, I never got a reward for finishing the Ringmaster mission (i.e. the last mission in chapter 2) it just locks up once you finish, My guild mate and i were running the mission and we both finished and I accepted the progress to next story, and she recieved a reward while mine bugged.
I have re-logged, cleared mail, mapped everything under the sun to fix it and to no avail the mail never shows up

The “Read your mail” step is the last step in the L20 storyline. It doesn’t SEND the mail until you reach L30, though, so you can’t complete it yet, so you didn’t receive completion for it. (Your friend might have been L30 or higher already, so they received the mail and were able to finish the storyline.)
This is absolutely ridiculous lmfao. Thanks for wasting my time. This level-gating is meaningless and infuriating. I think you should reevaluate your choices in altering our ability to play your game, Anet, because you advertise it as being able to play OUR way and WITH OUR FRIENDS. Well my FRIENDS completed this mission and guess what I got no credit because of your stupid level-gating. I don’t know what yall were even thinking.

Hey just wanted to say I had the same problem with the ringmaster quest. Completed it with a friend and when It asked to advance my story, I said yes, and no reward, xp, or anything. Figured this would have been fixed by now seeing as this thread was started four months ago.
My girlfriend and I were doing this quest as well and we encountered this problem. I was the leader of the party so I got my reward. We are both the same level. She got the same message aka error and no mail was sent. Please fix asap. Seems like a bug.
6 Months later and still not fixed? I got the same issue. I’m 30 now, can’t proceed my Story Quest and still got no rewards from The Ringmaster Quest. Do i have to create a new character now?
