The Steel Tide Tank Bug
I had the same problem when I was doing this mission yesterday.
Currently, the only way to do it is to turn the turret in short bursts (assuming you use the tank at all).

I got the same problem here.
Doesn’t matter wich button i use, turning or shooting, it kicks me out of the tank randomly.
It was doing the same to me. Somehow by just fast tapping the aim key I got it semi aimed at some mobs and then shot at them without further aiming and suddenly it completed the phase. But the camera rubberbanding and frequent dismounts from the tank were quite frustrating.
This bug is still terrible.
Maybe I’ve got it worse:
- Turning the turret in short bursts doesn’t help me at all. The camera freaks out, and I get booted from the tank.
- Not only that, but when booted, the hit box on the tank goes crazy. I can’t even run close to it. I have to wiggle my way toward it, as if the hitbox is all spiky.
- I rubberband around it even when close to it.
- Turning in short bursts helps only slightly. When booted, the turret still rotates completely away.
I cannot complete this mission at all, as it stands.

In the meantime, you can also use the nearby mortars to fight the Risen. The objective is based on killing X giants.
^That IS NOT a fix, its just a bandage on a Personal Story mission that needs a fix.
I tried doing this mission while trying to use the Tank to kill the Giants like the objective says as most people will normally do what they are told. if you dont want to us to use the tank dont make it say “Use the tank to kill the Giants”
To be fair, he did say “for now” but yes, if the text could be changed for that it would be very helpful.
I haven’t tried it again yet. I was about to once this morning but it just takes so long to get to that part of the mission in the first place.
