I was encouraged to make a post about this, as I hope it is relevant to many besides myself. (there doesn’t appear to be another post on the subject, so hopefully I am not making a duplicate) I was told that there is a fix coming too.

As many know there were some 2k blank runes in the Trading Post. Many (like myself) purchased said runes, perhaps as a mere curiosity, or as an investment. However, after the last patch, they were all changed from being Soulbound on equip to Account Bound. That effectively rendered its value to nothing short of vendor trash, and more so you can not even throw them into the mystical toilet. (btw… There is a little toilet emoji on my phone… wow thats neat) wait.. What was I talking about? Oh yes! My point!

Save your Unnamed Runes, remember what you payed for them, and lost in the Trading Post through your bad investment. With a little time, hopefully there will be a fix. Have a nice day!

paying 2000 gold for a bug

Here’s what I think:

I saw that rune, it had no name. Obviously, it’s a bug, since I scrolled through every rune and they were all there, so it was a new thing (at first, I thought it was some Elite runes were missing because ppl didn’t complete the Elite), but…nvm bugged. I reported and left it to be.
When you buy a bug for whatever value, it’s not an investiment, it’s a bet. You lost the bet.
How can you expect a fix? Like, you gave Gold to someone, not to a merchant. You didn’t excluded the rune. You didn’t even know what the rune was (and it turns out it wasn’t a rune at all, it was the Machined Weapon Core, that it should be crafted but it’s not, but it’s another matter) and still, you bought, and you know why? Because it was expensive. Just because of that.

I’m sorry that you lost your gold, but… I saw the bug and I reported it. If it was a new craftable rune, it would drop the price down low with time, it would never raise. So… I thought that not only it was risky, but I wouldn’t gain anything buying it.

Totally agree with you, and honestly I really should have made that connection. In hindsight we see the outcome, but in the moment a part of me hoped they were a bugged out Superior Rune of Revenant (wishful thinking I know)…

Oh and I would also remind people to keep this civil, I have honestly had enough vitriol from the Navy to last me a lifetime.

But I was expecting it to be something like that, like I told. However, one thing that I thought right now is that you could argue that you were misled by a bug, which cost you something. But I really don’t know how they could pay you back since you bought from a player.

No worries, you were not in the least bit rude, and this is the type of constructive feed back and response that is expected. As far as the bug is concerned, I do know it was known of, it was more how they handled it that kind of made me scratch my head. The truth of the matter is that whenever you play with any type of market, you play a risk game. I would love to see something done with the runes that people still (hopefully) have in their possession, that would make the most sense. It would be totally unreasonable to expect Anet to go through the logs and see who lost what, and then try and pay them back that monetary value. I would recommend just making it a rune that can be used ie. Superior Rune of the Revenant would be a good candidate.

Well it has been 11 months, and those runes are still unnamed. Was told by a GM to keep poking Anet about this.

To whom it may concern… Any word on this little rune? Still have 14 of them just sitting in my bank, and am about ready to cut my losses and delete them.
