This bug has existed since beta…
Shameless bump
Let’s not let this get swept under the rug again.
It would help if you actually described the bug instead of just showing a screenshot. A screenshot with no description of the bug tells Devs nothing.
Here’s a description of the bug:
When a Kit is equipped, it overrides back items. This is not the bug, but information for those who are unaware.
The bug is that back items continue to show through intermittently. Often, at first, the kit is the only thing visible, until you make an attack; during the attack, the back item will often show through. Sometimes it decides not to stop showing through, and this leads to the screenshot above.
LMAO tgheirs alot more than “one little thing” they have left to patch, theirs tons of em.
simple answere is they just dont care about us, so long as they still get a paycheck that is
Screw you mods; I am tired of this being ignored. You want me to stop bumping it, then tell the devs to do something about it. I’ve been reporting this crap since beta, and I am fed up.
If you ban me, expect this to be bumped as soon as the ban ends. If you delete it, I’ll just make another.
Can’t you just uncheck your back piece so it will not be shown?
Then there would be no more clipping which you seem to find extremely annoying.
Still no love for the engineer nor any hope of ever getting our hobo sack issue fixed.
The Zephyr rucksack was a total troll job by them towards Engies.
This is a small thing, in comparison to what they have currently on their plates, and doesn’t actually affect game function. Considering the fact that the latest patch has borked graphics to the point of crashing, I’d rather them work on that kind of stuff first.

So the solution is for Engie’s not to wear a back piece?
Nice, especially in a game where skins are everything.

And what happens if I want to see my back piece? Kind of why I got it in the first place, you know. Or perhaps you are suggesting I go into the hero panel and check it each time I get into combat? Why should I have to?

You’re right. Instead of dedicating some resources to fixing the issue with hobo sacks after nearly an entire year, they are better off using resources to make an entire new set of weapon skins. Once again.
While I understand where you are coming from, their primary goal has always been releasing new content, and they will eventually fix most graphics anomalies as the one you’re describing, just not on the timetable we players may like.
That being said, this is still a “first world problem” as your game runs fine, despite the fact that your back piece clips with your kits. Mine, however, is barely functional at the moment. I would rather have a working game environment.

THIS. Keywords: “First World Problem”
My god, you guys, you have a graphical glitch and you make it sound like you’re having your human rights challenged. Never in my life has a graphical glitch incited such butt-frustration.

You need to look of the meaning of the phrase “straw that broke the camel’s back.”

Well, I considered suggesting that you not use kits if appearance was that much more important to you over functionality, but I figured that wouldn’t go over well.
(Anyway, I suppose you can just consider my posts as bumps that don’t violate the rules like real bumps do.)

Indeed. I don’t like thinking the choices are “don’t use a back piece” or “don’t use the only skills that make the engineer a viable profession.” What kind of choice is that? Honestly? It would be like telling a warrior that he will always appear naked unless he agrees to never use a banner skill.

Arena Net has a habit of releasing broken content, and then having to fix it later. And instead of fixing what they have they just release more that needs to be fixed. Clearly they have the “dig up” mindset.
Mesmer clones not holding an offhand weapon has also existed since Beta and has been reported and reported and reported. Just face it dude, Some things are just NEVER going to be fixed (Because they don’t know how to)
It would be a lot easier to accept that they don’t know how to fix it if we could actually tell they were trying – but the only thing they seem to be trying to do is pump out Living Story. They’ve posted on the Engineer boards that the resources that could be handling kits and so forth are being used for other things – but most of the things we see are just buggy Living Story content that then keeps the bugfixers busy for a while.

Anyone with half a brain can look at the focal point of that screen shot (the character’s back) and see something isn’t right. And I certainly hope the developers would see it and think “wait; we didn’t design the flamethrower kit to have glowing blue dragon wings….”
I would rather have a year of bug removal, than a year of limited buggy content. The prior events have made it clear. Events in general are just to be dreaded in some way by the new bugs they introduce. But someone must have thought it was a good idea to go forward with releasing more of them and thus more bugs more frequently. I’d love to enjoy some of the things they add, if they took the time to test it instead of dumping it on us as is. It’s a nice gesture to want to release so much so fast, but is the team up to the task or spreading themselves too thin? I just feel that bugs like this that have existed for a long time will be put on the back burner till this phase is over.

Anyone with half a brain could read my post and realize that it was for entertainment purposes, and to point out that anet doesn’t do anything if you don’t tell them anything.
Anet quote:
“Use descriptive bug titles: the more clear and relevant your bug title is to the actual bug, the higher the chance is that we’ll be able to follow up on it faster.
I.e. bug titles like, “Please fix!” or “GAME BREAKING BUG!” tell us nothing about the actual bug you’re encountering. A good question to ask yourself is, “does my thread title summarize the specific issue I’m seeing?”
Describe the issue you’re encountering in detail: Providing information like the map you’re in, your character level, race, profession, and whether you’re in a group can significantly help us narrow down what’s causing the bug you’ve found. If you can reliably cause the bug you’re seeing to occur, let us know exactly how you did it!"

I could live with that rule. I hate picking up their stupid banners when I’m trying to loot drops. Get a real skill!
Yes, I do run a warr. I run all profs.
Run a separate loot key if you don’t like picking up banners.

Agreed. Arena Net really needs to get their priorities straight. Three million copies sold is actually really good for a new MMO given how jaded MMO players are becoming, so it is time for them to stop pushing the “look at all our constant updates” hype and get to work actually making their game fully playable.
