Those crashes are getting out of hand
what crashes.. you know anet thinks there isnt any right..?
My wife hasnt been able to play more than 5-10 mins at a time since launch and she filed a ticket and got the generic response you have prob seen posted all over these forums.
1. its a windows 32 bit problem.. upgrade to 64 and you will be fine.
first off.. the game is only 32 bit.. and there are TONS of people posting they are running with 64 and getting the same crash.
second, they referred her to a 2 year old post and told her to REMOVE RAM FROM HER SYSTEM because she was running windows 32.. Umm.. shes only got 3g and has been running the game perfect since beta..
third, shes running an nvidia graphics card… AMD cards are crashing also.. but slightly less frequently… while on the other hand, my Intel HD UMA laptop is running it fine.. no crashes at all.
IT IS AN OOM error… triggered by Nvidia and AMD cards.. please fix or start handing people their money back for the expansion that cannot play and the core game they can no longer play!
why don’t they reply here and not on another website
Ya the lack of communication about a game breaking issue that is happening to a good amount of player is rather disheartening… This needs to be seriously address ASAP. Crunch time boys and girls.
because even the devs dont post on the guild wars site.. that would be just silly.. reddit is where its at
I have yet to complete the Dragon Stand meta event because the game will crash upon status updates. When I log back in I am always on a new map. I have given up on this until they fix things.
I crash in PvE when moving around. I crash in towns when opening a chat with a vendor. I crash when Mad King shows up. I crash when hitting a gathering node. Any possible update to the status of my game bears the risk of a crash. Too frustrating. I have begun counting them and I hit 20 crashes this weekend. That means during this weekend – Saturday and Sunday. I have no idea how many crashes I have seen since HoT was released.

I crashed in the middle of the DS event. I was leading a lane with my guild in an organized map.

It does seem to be very “hit or miss”. I haven’t seen the OOM crash myself (playing on an MSI i7 gaming laptop (64 Bit)), but my girlfriend is seeing it constantly since HoT came out (playing on an Alienware i7 desktop, also 64 Bit)… both our systems have 12 GB of RAM, both are running high end nVidia cards, both are running Windows 10. I do hope this is something they find a cure for soon. This never happened before the expansion.
The 64-bit client solved the crash problem for me. I did multiple Tangled Depths events last night with no problem. I had been crashing at least once an hour.
For me, there are 2 things which keeps on happening.
1. The screen turns black, I have to hard reboot my machine.
This usually happens when I’m in a battle, I’m loading a new map or I exit the game.
I can still hear the CPU fan running.
2. The game hangs, I have to hard reboot my machine.
This usually happens when I’m interacting with something in the environment.
I’m on Win 7 and I’ve tried the 64-bit client, repaired the image, used the windowed mode and updated nVidia drivers to 358.87. It still happens. Not sure what to do now.
At least you can try the 64-bit client. Those of us waiting on bonus and/or taxes to upgrade to a 64-bit system are pretty much boned.

OK, more updates. I’ve updated to Windows 10, no luck. Crashes/hangs still happen.
The one thing which fixed the crashes and hangs is to change my graphics preset from “Best Appearance” to “Best Performance”. I’ve not had a single problem after this.
But the thing is, I didn’t upgrade my graphics card (GTX 760) so that I can play GW2 in the lousiest settings! It’s such a beautiful game, I want to enjoy it in its entirety
