As part of the heart quest: Help Historian Garrod investigate Godslost Swamp, you’re supposed to help Tortured Spirits. They’re NPC ghosts. You talk to them, ask what troubles you. Then they point, and one of those floating black blob monsters appear as they cower. You kill the monster, you get credit for helping Garrod.

The problem is I’ve encountered numerous Tortured Spirits, who will simply cower and nothing appears to “torture” them, so you can get no credit for helping them and Garrod.

In general this whole area just needs more things to do to progress the heart because if the spirits start bugging out, there is very little left to do other than compete for whatever portals spawn.
